Agreed, infantry lasguns feel really janky to shoot
Joke is good but also…isn’t that the MO of 40k? Using outdated gear from over a millennium ago? Seems fitting.
Doesn’t one shot crushers: ![]()
Has reasonable trade offs: ![]()
Doesn’t let me unga bunga with little to no effort: ![]()
Literal trash tier. /s
Nice strawman, Jimmy.
No jokes allowed in Fort Fatshark.
The MK13 Chainsword is pretty good but is held back by having an insufferable moveset (light spam).
The Horizontal Heavy and the push attack still need to come out faster, or not have the weird lag time feeling to make them usable and make the weapon have a much more interactive moveset. Maybe could be paired with a slight cleave nerf on lights so you aren’t rewarded as much for spamming into hordes. If thats a tough pill to swallow maybe buff cleave on the heavy and push attack to compensate?
The MK4 is dumpster tier and suffers against everything that isn’t a chaff enemy. It’s another victim of early Darktide design where weapons could have glaring weaknesses like that and still be good, which is no longer the case.
Devils Claw is fun and good but is going to struggle to compete especially in Havoc. In normal games I think the 7 is completely usable and good. The 1 does really need to have some sort of attention given to it to make it viable.
The Agripinaa Brauto is strong and can compete with at least 2 of the IAGs. Strong damage, base cleave (very fun on Warp Splitting Psyker) make it a fun and strong option. The other 2 Brautos as more fast firing close range weapons are always going to lose to the Vraks (Old Columnus) IAG and the fast firing (14 I think?) Recon Las. I don’t know how they would be able to compete with those 2 without breaking the game, but being a bit more viable would be nice. Maybe they should have base cleave as well.
Headhunter’s/Vigilants, as a baseline should have their manic modifier be much better (you’re telling me the precision rifle suffers into enemies it needs to kill the most???) and I would like to see the 3 have its Finesse nerf from Patch 14 reverted, or at the very least give it back some more finesse. Maybe the same for the 7. The double shot one is a lost cause and no effort should be wasted in trying to save it.
Speaking of the MK3 Evisc, a personal favorite of mine moveset wise, has been completely trashed with the addition of the Relic Blades (and arguably even before this, with the MK 15 Evisc). Same as the Mk 4 Chainsword, just suffers from being an older weapon when we werent expected to be killing as many enemies. Boost the damage on this mfer so it can show the Relic Blades a thing or to. It shouldn’t have as much damage as the Relic blades, as it has the advantages of crits, better mobility, and not needing to worry about heat buildup, but still needs a boost.
There’s more to talk about underpreforming weapons but this is enough rambling for one post. When I call weapons “dumpster tier” they are (excluding mk 1 D Claw and double shot vig auto) usable and you can do well with them. Just really not up to par atm.
They should give devil’s claw devastating strike back its infinite cleave property(could cleave through crusher before it got nerfed iirc).
Regular Chainsword sucks because of the moveset, they can’t change that.
ex-headhunter autoguns need way faster bursts(not the time between bursts but the time between each shot in burst), currently the burst variants feel awful to use. The single shot version should get +10% rending by default.
dbs is just a meme, the only thing it does that a bolt pistol or something doesn’t already do is kill a bunch of trash mobs due to inf. cleave on crit blessing, which any shmuck can do with melee weapon.
Braced autoguns are just irrelevant. They don’t have singletarget boss dps(the nerfed infantry autogun is still far better) and they suck against horde, especially now that scab rager got carapace torso.
Sure people can pretend they’re okay with vet skill tree, but that same build works way better with infantry autogun.
They just shouldn’t exist.
Acceptable horde clear compared to what? The Chain Axe?
For a weapon that deals kind of okay with waves, it doesnt deal enough armor damage to make up for it, nor does it bring something uniquely helpful to the playing field. Both the Heavy Sword and the DC do what the Chain Sword does, but better.
It desperately needs some kind of change to the special to make it stick out and be worth picking over anything else.
Being worse than every weapon is not an average performance. It is just a bad one.
Okay
Okay okay okay
What are you doing with chainsword?
I use 25% vs maniac/unyielding
I have Rampage/Savage Sweep on a Mk IV and Wrath/Shred on the Mk XIIIg
I used to use Bloodletter with rending talents for better elite damage but stopped because it wasn’t that important and I could save a talent point to put anywhere else.
I run them with Bolt Pistol in Aurics when I feel like it on Veteran.
This, chainsword was bad on release and it’s still mid at best even now, especially with the hit sounds - makes it sound like bonking enemy on the head with cardboard tube(which seems to do about the same dmg).
Ogryn is bad class and the voicelines make player behave like they’re dumb too.
But Ogryn has plenty of melee crutches built-in(such as much stronger pushes, doesn’t get staggered by regular melee attacks…etc.), and karsolas pick is like what the new zealot relic blade would be if it was good.
Don’t catch me defending picks. Those and the stubbers work because they were made post patch 14. Everything else except Kickback is outdated (shield gets a pass because of how Brutal Momentum affects the first heavy attack).
Ogryn needs a talent to make his pushes as good as I remember them. The only thing that seems new to me is that carapace ragers are as staggerable as they’re supposed to be… so I expect them to get touched soon so they’re barely flinchable like the rest of the elites.
No, you can push to stop attacking ragers without the “no pushover” talent. (as long as you have stamina)
I think we should nerf ogyrn more
Screw it. He’s bigger than everyone else and that’s not fair
nerf ogryn size.
Might actually solve a lot of problems.
Isn’t that like a buff tho
it can be both
That’s my problem with DCs and chainswords in general. Their movesets are just too basic, especially the chainswords. Some moves provide zero value and serve no real purpose. We need more pickaxe / greatsword style reworks in Darktide.
Zealot perspective:
-Headhunter autoguns are quite bad right now. They need to have some intrinsic benefit that justifies their downsides.
-Mk X heavy laspistol needs a buff to make it competitive with the Mk II.
-Hard to find a reason to use infantry lasguns right now. They are outshone by other ranged weapons for any given task.
-Combat shotguns are very underwhelming and also do not justify their downsides.
-Agree that Eviscerator Mk III has been invalidated by the Mk XV, and then invalidated even more by the relic blades. It definitely needs some buffs to make it remotely relevant.
-Combat blades, dueling swords, plasma guns, and revolvers are too dominant compared to other weapons and need some reasonable nerfs. I agree that it sucks that these boring, normal weapons (with exception of plasma gun) are so superior to the iconic 40K weapons like thunder hammers and heavy eviscerators.
MkIII pushattack is kind of usable against horde, I guess.
You can cleave through pretty much anything with perfect strike + critstack, and run way faster with eviscerator, relic blades are just not cleaving through crushers, or many maulers.
