The three big offenders here (keep in mind i have only played zealot so far) are chainsword, Chain axe, and thunder hammer. Dont get me wrong, the special attack for all of these is very strong, but i fail to find a reason to ever use the light special as opposed to the heavy special. The heavy special does significantly more damage for all of these weapons, and while the light special is very marginally faster to initiate, They both lock you in place for an extended period with the light special doing much less damage.
The eviscerator is a perfect example of differentiating light and heavy special, and while the damage difference is still there, the fact that the heavy special can cut through some trash before chewing into an elite does clearly differentiate it from the light special.(i still think the light special should be buffed though)
Just an example of what could be done is adding an explosion or something simmilar to the thunder hammer heavy special (with a nerf to single target damage) and bringing up the light special’s damage to match what the heavy special’s currently is. This would also alleviate the problem of sniping an elite through a horde which is incredibly hard to do with the heavy special (its a horizontal attack) which sucks because the light special does so much less damage currently.
BONUS CHAIN WEAPON FEEDBACK:
-chain weapons not called chainsword have a much longer delay from activating the weapon special to being able to start an attack. this leads to the other chain weapons (thunder hammer too) felling quite a bit more sluggish when it comes to the weapon special compared to the regular chainsword.
-chainsword, while vastly improved from the closed test i feel is missing some of that “sauce” that the eviscerator and chain axe have namely attacks that chew into enemies without the use of the weapon special. Im not too sure where i would add this, but nevertheless its how i feel.
-i feel like chain axe lights while incredibly satisfying dont do enough damage since you cant dodge while chewing into an enemy
-thunder hammer light attacks need a damage buff and should pierce carapace armor. Thunder hammer doesnt really feel like a world beating armor killing machine apart from the special attack when compared to v2 2h hammer
-recovery on the thunder hammer special is a tad too long. I know the intent is to have a cooldown on the move, but the fact thay you cant dodge and are just stuck recoiling is too much. I think the duration of the dodge lock should be lowered.
-alot of the non chain weapons lag too far behind against armor imo.
