take a guess lol
80% of players in high level lobbies shouldnt be there, and can only play at that level because of weapons like the duelling sword
are you suggesting the dueling sword doesnât oneshot stuff on damnation
Iâm just trying to work out if itâs a weapon balance issue or you have the difficulty set too low.
No? Is it a problem that it one-shots elites on Damnation?
As I mentioned before, Psykers and Veterans can get a substantially higher damage output that a Zealot with a Dueling Sword.
And if this is a problem for you, maybe a solution could be a higher difficulty bracket?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgEQdPLBIWM&t=4s does this answer your question?
Then whyâd you ask him if heâs playing on a low difficulty after he pointed out the oneshot issue?
Yes, the fastest weapon in the game oneshotting elites is a problem
Iâve been using Thunderhammer recently, because itâs enjoyable to use. I really tried with the heavy sword recently too, but for reasons Iâve already mentioned, it isnât at the same level as other available weapons.
The issue that Iâm pointing out isnât the challenge of the game, itâs more so the reward feedback for each weapon. Some of these weapons feel slow and sluggish because they are slow and sluggish.
Also, would you say this about Assail / Smite Psykers? Thereâs less skill involved in that than a Zealot with a Dueling Sword. But Iâm not casting shade at Psykers, they can play however they like.
smite is also bad for the game and assail is overtuned with scrierâs gaze, there are many balance problems with this game
I dont understand. You want every weapon to be as fast as the dueling sword and oneshot everything like it does?
Weâre talking past each other here, other classes can do more damage than a Zealot with a DS, it just feels OP. If youâre on havoc 40, 1 shotting a few elites doesnât make a big dent in the overall game.
If youâre playing on the absolute hardest challenge difficulty and your weapon just oneshots elites faster than they can spawn it does actually make a huge dent in the overall game, but Iâll also say probably not as big a dent as the dent left in my head after reading these arguments
no other class can do more pure melee damage than fotf zealot without external support or pure melee psyker, good luck with that tho
Sir you are not 1 shotting elites faster than they can spawn on Havoc 40.
Not oneshotting for the most part (but partially does) but they are dying faster than they come on H40 with dueling swords
Yeah that makes sense, because the Zealot is a melee class.
Havoc 40 is more determined by horde control and area damage. The Veteran who does 1100K damage using a Plasma gun is doing more heavy lifting than a Zealot who one shots elites. In the greater scheme of things, one shotting elites doesnât make as much of a dent at higher level play, due to the amount of enemies being sent at you. But on lower difficulties, I believe the Dueling Sword would OP, due to the sparsity of enemy units, making chained 1 hits more effective.
The problem here is that nerfing the DS for lower level play would unfairly impact the more devoted playerbase.
Good thing the people packing a dueling sword also all pack a flamer so they can do both
The devoted playerbase has been begging on their knees for DS nerfs for the past months. Youâre literally talking to a guy who beats H40 with grey weapons but you still want to pretend itâs low difficulty players.
Anyone who is actually devoted to the game to any extent probably stopped using the dueling sword 2000 hours ago because itâs so mindnumbingly boring, but that doesnât mean randos wont use it to trivialize every mission all the same
But the zealot can do that better with a flamer too and cover everything else with ds4
The game should not, and is not, being balanced around havoc. What havoc is doing currently exposing just how strong the outliers are at what they do (which typically tends to be almost everything)
Do I need to record myself doing this too for my opinion to be as valid?
Did you like Vermintide? Iâd like Darktide to be more like Vermintide. I think the melee was better all around. The success of Vermintide gave FS the platform to make Darktide. I think it would be good if FS incorporated the successful elements of Vermintide - mainly being the rewarding melee and replayability. Iâd like to be able to use other weapons and have them be as rewarding as the DS or Thunderhammer.
Letâs agree to disagree on the Dueling Sword.
I donât strongly oppose nerfing the DS because I donât use it anymore, but I would prefer that the focus be more placed on improving the other weapons, not in damage output, but in how rewarding it is to use them. Slow and sluggish weapons donât feel rewarding.
The best weapons in Vermintide werenât always the strongest, I used to love using the 1H short sword for Kerillian. It wasnât as strong as the daggers, but it was a nice weapon to use
