Warpshock Slash (force greatsword) does not count as a ranged attack for talents

This is regarding the psyker greatswords “ranged” force attack - warpshock slash.

The main issue is that it does not cound as a “ranged attack” in regards to talents.

If it did it could have some interesting synergies with certain blessings and talents.

I would say it is a bug as i would wager that most people would intuitively consider it a ranged attack. Therefore i would argue that it should also work with ranged talents.

However i am aware of fatsharks sometimes unexpected and unconventional balancing decisions so i would not be surprised if this was in fact intentional and not a bug.

Example: When the veterans executioner stance did not mark scab stalkers.

Id like this to work because i think there could be some fun synergies with the talent “True aim” and the blessing “Blazing spirit”.

the psyker has a talent that allows them to block ranged attacks.
sort of side issue but can anyone confirm if that’s possible with the new psyker sword? i swear i tried it and the npcs projectiles were going straight thru to my toughness and not being blocked or consuming any peril or stamina. maybe i misunderstood how the perk works but i swear it seems ineffective?

That’s not a talent, it’s a blessing you need to add to the sword.

True Aim was adjusted, it only counts one weakspot hit per attack, so you would need to activate 5 seperate Warpshock Slash attacks before a guaranteed crit IF Fatshark made the change you’re suggesting (count Warpshock Slash as a ranged attack).

I see, but my personal issue is that when i have those 5 weakspot hits banked, i can’t discharge the crit with the warpshock slash.

May be intended. I dont know. May be a bug. Would it be overpowered? I dont know.

Would it be fun? Hell yes!

The weakspot hits don’t need to be ranged attacks or from the weapon that triggers the effect. You can pull out your staff or gun, land 5 headshots, switch back to your sword, and blade beam. You can also simply land headshots with your sword and then blade beam.

I’m also curious.. if it doesn’t count as a ranged attack, does it count as melee for melee damage perks? I almost feel like it should count as both lol.. that might make it OP, though.

I’m mostly disappointed because my current build kind of forces me to take the True Aim perk but it’s kind of useless on my build.
