Waiting a week to complete challenges genuinely hurts my experience with the game

I complete Sire Melk’s challenges on the first day then its an entire WEEK before there’s more challenges to unlock. I find this mechanic incredibly discourages me from committing more time to the game when blessings/weapons Id like to unlock are completely unobtainable until the week of waiting is over (I remember back in Beta the wait for Melk’s challenges to refresh was TWO WHOLE WEEKS!) For the scarce amount of content available in game the least I feel like Fatshark could do is remove the annoying week long wait timer to something like 2 or 3 days so people like my friends and I could start enjoying the nigh unobtainable weapon/perk/blessing combos that are seemingly only available from Melk’s shop, unless you have millions of platsteel/diamantine/dockets on hand to frivolously upgrade the same weapon hundreds of times over and over again.

Well, when or if Darktide becomes popular again it would be good to look out for players that cannot play every day. I think some token price to be assigned new set of missions within the same week would be better overall. I don’t know… 50k tokens and here is new set for you. Complete it within the same week. What do you think?

There was also a couple propositions regarding fixed reward without time limit. You get what you earn.
I like this solution very much.

I was just thinking now perhaps once the current challenges are all completed instead of them being locked until next week they can be completed again for maybe half rewards, or maybe double completion conditions with the same reward amount?

I also very much like the idea of a fixed reward system I feel like it would justify having yet another currency to manage when said currency is unlocked in a unique way like challenges.

Please remember that there are people who enjoy dividing their playtime across multiple characters. If you play each class, having to complete Melk’s contracts once a week is more than enough. If you want faster access to blessings, I’d very much prefer a way that doesn’t put players on more of a treadmill than they already are.

If contracts didn’t come with an arbitrary time window for completion, I’d like them a lot more. Just earn as you go. That way, if you want more, you can play more. In their current form, they look to me like an artificial retention mechanic. Come to think of it, I’m mostly just annoyed by them TBH.

Yeah, Melk’s shop changes everyday, but you can only earn the money to buy the damned rng items only once a week! It’s so annoying.
This would not be a problem if Melk’s shop currency was shared between characters, I think.

I think Melks challenges are quite at odds with the missions themselves.

They encourage down-levelling (where you play easy maps to tick a box) for one, but also atypical play such as deliberately waking demon hosts. Depending on your viewpoint and skill that can be quite annoying. Eg a lvl20 basically watches the t5s clear the map for them.

Thst aside, my opinion is that you’re really supposed to be playing the top level you can to get the best loot. Then crafting as a 2ndry option (pffft!). Then Melks is just there as a steady tick over much as brunts is/was.

I suspect that a weapon a week from Melk is actually working as intended from a game perspective.

You could also I suppose create a 5th character and level them up in the spare time, then you’ll end up with 2x the opportunity to grab those skills. I know, not exactly what you’re looking for, but I bet faster than waiting for the dev queue.

Separate contracts and shared currency between characters sounds like a golden opportunity to both promote players to try other the other characters available, while also making it possible to earn a decent amount of currency for purchasing multiple weapons making the week wait much more bearable in my opinion.
