VETERAN needs a big rework; its AMMO economy must change too

Til throwing knives isn’t range weapon.

Recon Las? Helbore? Surgical crit Bolter? Also you don’t have to force yourself to occassionaly shoot Plasma/Revolver.
Unless it’s Havoc most of range weapons are perfectly usable for range focus build, Graia BAG for example have ton of ammo and can constantly shtting out bullet.

I’m making fun of you for saying Vet is discount Zealot. I’m all for improving Vet build variety/utility.

I really dont agree with this statement but I do think the survivalist nerf was a bit too heavy handed.

So, since you do count them as Ranged Weapons… what is wrong with Veteran players wanting to spend the Havoc 40 match with their Helbore in hand, occassionally bayonetting enemies?

Apparently its okay for the Zealot to spend the entire match meleeing and using throwing knives, but never once, rely on their secondary. But when someone suggests a Veteran wants to do that but with ranged, it is being a victim.

Haven’t seen a Veteran using either of these in ages.

If the Veteran were designed to be the ranged specialist

Vet was designed as one. On release.

Also, how to you quote someone with names?

Vet was never designed to be 100% ranged focused. You invented that.

You newbs are really annoying.

Vet was a pure ranged class. The fact that be received a single hybrid(Melee) keystone after talent tree rework doesn’t makes him melee focused of full-hybrid.

Actually, every class is hybrid here.

But yeah, Vet is supposed to be better with ranged (I would even say supposed to be best)

Tbh i run recon if a specific shocktrooper crit build for ammo effeciency and i saw some bolter vets as well… But after arbites release it’s eithr melee shout vet or no vet at all

At the momest - most of them can be hybrid, true.

But before rework vet was purely ranged class.

I never seen anyone play pure range Vet even on release. Otherwise people wouldn’t complain about losing infinite cleave on PS.

You couldn’t play NON-ranged vet on release, since vet had ONLY ranged or utility(Like demo stockpile) talents.

People complained about undeserved power sword nerf(Me included) Because it was basically the only good veteran melee weapon aside from, maybe, axes, before talent tree rework. PS could allow vets to defend themselfves in melee and sometimes even match such melee clases as pre-rework zealot.

I mean it could be pure ranged if there was no melee slot, but by default every class has both of them. That’s what makes them all hybrids.

But I agree that it was more ranged focused before.

So what? the fact that i’m recent on forum doesn’t change the fact that i play since beta xD

I am aware. I played at Release. And while i didn’t really like the Camo perk as it was back then, at least you could play a Veteran.

I highlight the text in the thread, then use the “quote” button, while the reply window is open.

Why does it offend you so much that people want the Veteran, who is styled as the ranged specialist, be the ranged specialist and not a discount Zealot?

Nobody said that the other 4 classes should be Ranged focused…the point, to which i replied, was you suggesting that it is a bad thing for people wanting the ranged specialist to be ranged focused.

People complained about losing infinite cleave on PS, because it was overpowered to hell and back.

Now you are quibbling semantics.

Why should the game’s premise be changed to cater to literally two people who don’t like melee combat?

Outside of Psyker staves to some extent, Veteran is pretty clearly superior to the other classes at ranged combat. All of the talents of his original tree exist in some form in the new one. He also gained several new ones that boost how strong he is at ranged combat. You can run no melee talents at all in his current tree just fine. I suppose everybody has their own definition of ranged specialist but you can easily shoot > 2/3 of the time in Aurics while having the best ranged perks in the game. I disagree quite strongly that he’s in some awful state where he can’t fulfill his role.

Well… Perk value was questionable indeed. But it was enabling veteran to do his job at killing elites from afar.

P.S. This damn forum could have had better formatting than this

Glad to hear that you are ackowledging that only two people are playing vet after release or abrites since everyone just switched to zealot(Literally vet but better w\o rudimentary ranges talents) or arby(Actual hybrid class with better ranged than vet)
