Notariously the heavysword of zelotes
With the right blessing which benefit its cleave on multiple hit/dmg on multiple hit it just cleave hordes brainless spam lmb, with some movement and you are invincible. The special attack stun ragers like your stun grenade and dont slow you down while sprinting, the heavy attack actualy headshot very well. Its very very flexible yet people calling it bad.
Just because evis is a more easy to manage weapon and just because dagger on zelotes is kinda broken and overpowered(which, imo,it should not be like that. The bleed build and the buggy haymaker DESERVE a huge nerf to flat),it doesnt make other weapons bad or less effective if play right
And people being lazy to try diferent weapon and to actualy learn to use them,to adopt some new playstyle are those people who spread fake saying there are only certain weapon is viable, and more new palyers listen to those bad advices without try it themselves,so there is always only 1 or 2 build running around, only 1 or 2 weapon being used
And then the same people spread the fakes proceed to cry omg there is no game diversity
Change it pls, start to learn diferent playstyle and have patient while doing so,so you could have some more fun
There are a bunch of weapons that work whatever rolls or blessings they got. Knife, Power Sword, Bolter, Flamethrower to name a few.
In a game where weapons are as random as in this one it is normal that those weapons are being wide spread favorites. You can pick one up and feel the power no matter what luck got you.
The XII, and the pina Infantry gun are better than any of the above choices if you got extremely high damage and stability rolls. Especially if you roll the extra damage and suppression immunity blessings, but who the F gets those. 95% of players wont have those and maybe never will.
Plasma Gun is one of the worst cases. Depending in the rolls you either have something somewhat decent for most difficulties, or wield absolute garbage. The discussions surrounding that gun are just tough.
Tldr.: people gravitating towards weapons that just work is standard behavior. Darktides loot system further reinforces that behavior by design.
kife doesnt work except you abuse the bleed blessing, which imo,is not a good way to play(I hate cheese),but yes powersword is kinda broken op and made any other melee weapon on vet because a non sense.
Bolter is balanced imo by its slow amination and sad recoil, with a powersword on my hands I always prefer the Kantrael XII over a bolter
But I agree, the problem is not that some weapon doesnt work,it is some weapon are just OP and funless people always proceed to use a op weapon
I’m the new convert for HS. Initially I really wanted to like it, but it just felt weak…until I started playing on high intensity maps / Heresy+ and landed these blessings

Quite a few weapon types seem underwhelming…until you hit that lucky roll with blessings and set up your talents right. Other weapons on other hand are competent with a fleshed out role without any decent blessings. Again, I’m looking forward to the future balance passes, but for now I’m happy to experiment with what we got and report the obvious bugs and issues.
On other hand, frome lore perspective why should autopistol be a decent replacement for a bolter? I don’t envy Fatshark the task ahead.
That’s a good one! I have a few decent Heavy Swords now with Cleaves and/or Hit Mass Ignore, but I’m having trouble landing a good Headtaker. They still pull their weight in higher difficulties. A Mk IX and Flamer carried my team through a high intensity pretty handedly.
The knife is actually stronger in damnation without the bleed blessings. Mercy Killer and Uncanny Strike with good use of movement, aiming at heads, and use of the special combo and heavy attacks gives you crazy burst and great survivability. Being able to leap forward with a heavy attack while sprinting is the best, and something no other weapon has. In a curious way I think the knife itself is an example of what the OP is talking about. The bleed blessings are massively overrated and so the actual use of the knife in high difficulty has become underrated.
I believe I bought this one from the Lord Melk’s contract shop as it has the highest quality blessings. I lucked out on the basic stats also, even if these are not “perfect”.
Mercy Killer and Uncanny Strike are brutal blessings. The bleed one is not needed anywhere. Zealot has enough attack speed to proc crit passively anyway. The other careers don’t gain alot by bleeding the enemy.
Even without those blessings the knife has an incredible movement/damage ratio. With one of them it is by far the best melee weapon in the game.
