Unique unlockable skins from Chaos Wastes/Weaves [Poll]

I thought I’d do some polls on having unique unlockable skins from Chaos Wastes/Weaves (for use as illusions in the base game (a.k.a. main campaign and DLC maps)) as perhaps if interest seems great enough FS will consider it.

I have heard FS do already want to add Weave skins to the base game but I believe having earnable skins from Chaos Wastes too (and perhaps new ones for Chaos Wastes and Weaves in future) would add some extra longevity to these modes + serve to make them a little less disconnected from the base game.

I included some polls on counting Chaos Wastes and Weaves towards the 100 Champion+ missions for careers too.

Would you play Chaos Wastes more if you could unlock unique Chaos Wastes weapon skins for use as illusions in the base game?

  • No, I still wouldn’t play Chaos Wastes.
  • No, I would play Chaos Wastes just as much as I do now.
  • Yes, even if I only could unlock them them via RNG.
  • Yes, but only if there’s a guaranteed non RNG way to earn them.

Does not being able to progress towards the 100 Champion+ missions for career hats discourage you from playing Chaos Wastes or Weaves?

  • Yes, it makes me play the base game instead.
  • Yes, but only on some careers.
  • No, but I would like to be able to earn progress towards them in these modes.
  • No, and I don’t want to be able to earn progress towards them in these modes, despite me not having these hats.
  • No, and I don’t want to be able to earn progress towards them in these modes, as I already have these hats.

Should successful Chaos Wastes completions (on Champion and above) count towards the 100 Champion+ missions for career hats?

  • No.
  • Yes, a successful Chaos Wastes completion should count as 1 Champion+ mission.
  • Yes, a successful Chaos Wastes completion should count as 2 Champion+ missions.
  • Yes, a successful Chaos Wastes completion should count as 3 Champion+ missions.

Should successful ranked Weave completions (starting at Weave level 21 (the first Champion Weave)) count towards the 100 Champion+ missions for career hats?

  • No.
  • Yes, 3 successful ranked Weaves should count as one Champion+ mission completion.
  • Yes, 2 successful ranked Weaves should count as one Champion+ mission completion.
  • Yes, 1 successful ranked Weave should count as one Champion+ mission completion.
  • Yes, but the conversion should scale based on Weave set, e.g. 21-60: 3 Weaves count as 1, 61-100: 2 Weaves count as 1, 101+: 1 Weave counts as 1.

Should unique Chaos Wastes and Weave weapons skins also be unlockable via Lohner’s Emporium?

  • No.
  • Yes.
  • Yes, but they should be expensive to incentivise earning them directly from those modes.

Chaos Wastes already has the advantage of getting several emperor vaults just by completing an expedition. Means if you want to farm chests, then CW should be your go-to mode.

Weaves is too specialised and already has skins, which is also the prime reason why some people even play Weaves. Having to play Weaves to unlock specific skins would not really be more incentive to play Weaves but would most likely be more incentive for players to complain about it.

I am all in for more skins, but they shouldnt be limited to a specific mode for unlocking. And what about Lohners Emporium? Why exactly does it exist again? I guess for the premium skins.

Chaos Wastes has a couple of extremely nice Frames, but this requires complete Expedition on Legend / Cataclysm. But for me as a solo player, this is still beyond the possibilities, due to the castrated and not fixed bots.

Same problem with Weaves…

Overall, I definitely APPROVE as many new cosmetics as possible - is good. I only ask that getting this is not too teafbreaking or based on insane RNG.

For example, why not sell Illusions from Weaves for Essence ** and Illusion CW for Pilgrim’s Coins***?

** because why there exist more than 5 Million Essences, if to open all the weapons and the Amulet and the Cauldron, it took about 1.5 million (I don’t remember exactly).

*** save 200 coins and buy one weapon illusion seems fair to me. As a last resort, I can farm these coins on Recruit.

More skins and more ways to unlock them → always positive for me.

That is a fair point and why I put up this thread.

I do think it’d be a mistake if people had no choice but to play all the way up to the highest levels of Weaves to get the Weave weapon skins, I think that should stay a Weave-portraits thing, but I do think slowly rewarding people for at least trying them out and going back to them might help stop them from being so empty.

Players that do play all the way could always unlock the skins faster to reward them, but it wouldn’t be so bad if you could slowly unlock the Weave weapons by doing a few each season.

Personally, I wouldn’t be against having both options - being able to unlock them in their respective game modes OR buy them in Lohner’s Emporium.

If FS did that they’d need to expand the Dailies/Weeklies to include Weaves and Chaos Wastes however, at present some can only be completed in campaign (Tomes/Grimoires) or can be extremely difficult to complete elsewhere (Critters).

It’d be an extremely bad idea for FS to disincentivise buying upgrades/team upgrades in Chaos Wastes in order to get skins. I don’t think FS should use Essence or Pilgrim’s Coins as currency for cosmetics at all.

I prefer theppekausen’s idea, if they’re going to give a guaranteed/backup way to earn cosmetics from Weaves/Chaos Wastes that isn’t RNG dependent (or totally dependent on you playing solely those modes), it should be via Lohner’s Emporium.

Sadly. Why then all these millions of Essences that accumulate after unlock of everything in Athanor and lie like a dead weight? Future weapons in the three remain premium careers won’t cost millions, and Essence is very easy to obtain.

On the other hand, I can never get completed 160 or 120 Weaves. Usually the first 40 are also big problem for me.

It would be acceptable for me to buy Weaves weapons illusion for 100k Essentials per one illusion.
Via Lohner’s Emporium, I would rather buy frames from past missed Events. Or additional places for Painting in Taals Horn Keep. 1000 shillings for an extra place is acceptable for me too.

Speaking for weaves:

I don’t really want the skins in the base game, they are a bit over the top for my liking. I’m not a fan of all glowy things but that’s besides the point.
I am a fan of new challenges though. So if the skins should make their way into the base game I’d like to see some challenges inspired by the one’s in the Season 1 section in Okri’s book.
Using the weapons during weaves to some degree to unlock the skin in the base game. Especially if the challenges are somewhat connected to the weapon. Something like:
“Kill x armoured elites with headshots from heavy attacks with Kruber’s Executioner Sword.”
“Kill y Berserker type enemies with one charge from Bardin’s Drakefire Gun.”
“Score z backstabs with Kerillian’s Double Dagger.”
and so forth.

I’m against adding more RANKED weaves only skins because this mode doesn’t allow matchmaking. It is designed only for pre-made teams - that’s why it’s so unpopular. At the very least, weave skins should be earnable through quickplay weaves too, but playing any amount of quickplay weaves gets dull real fast because they are scripted and you keep having to play the EXACT same level over and over again (even for the 40 qp weave frame, I played some maps 5 or 6 times because of the lack of variety and RNG nature of the quickplay map selection). Weaves are dull as f#ck, and fatshark should abandon them - put your obviously limited resources into the popular wastes and adventure modes.

Fatshark should also make the Weekly Quest goals compatible with both adventure mode and wastes - no pickup tomes or grims quests, and the 10 quickplay matches should count in both wastes and standard games. And no more weekly events, ever.

Yes! Re-roll for Weekly Quests is also highly desirable. I don’t remember there was a week without “10 Quickplay” quest.

I’d be interested to know that too. I get that Weaves are unpopular but letting them count towards the 100 Champion+ missions for hats wouldn’t take away from anyone else’s experience, they could keep playing regular maps and CW.

The thing I hear the most are “weaves are short”. They may be short maps, but they take a long time to do. It took me and my group over 60 hours to complete weaves
1-160, most of those being on Cata 2 & 3. If it was a system like 2 or 3 maps is gets you 1 for the progression than thats fine, but the fact that we got 0 for that amount of work is BS.

the game itself matters, chaos wastes is good and weaves is bad, i will never play weaves just for a skin
