Unable to Join Quickgames or Host games

We kindly ask that you complete the questions below. With this information, we can investigate your issue properly.

Issue Description:

I’ve come back after a not playing for a few months and I’m having issues with joining quick play games and hosting on PC.

When I try to quick join I get stuck in a loop of “Starting search” “Legend” “Found game…” “connecting to game session.” then a blank space and back to “Found Game…”. This just repeat until it gives up and makes me host. When it switches to trying to host I can see players trying to join in the top right with the spinning suns, but there is no player name or message in the text box. After about 10-20 seconds they stop trying to connect.

After about 5 minutes players are then able to join the game and the lobby fills quickly. After I’ve done this I have no more issues joining quickplay or hosting games until I close and re-open the game, after which I need to try to host again for 5 minutes.

Hi @Jreedable,

What are your upload and download speeds? You can check this here: https://www.speedtest.net/

A couple of things to check/try off the bat -

  • You can enable ‘Small Network Packets’ within Vermintide 2’s ‘Network’ panel. Please be aware this option cannot be used in combination with the Player List Plus mod.

  • Ensure your ‘Download Region’ in the Steam client is set appropriately to a nearby location by:

  1. Open the Steam client
  2. Select ‘Steam’ in the upper left-hand corner
  3. Select ‘Settings’
  4. Select ‘Downloads’ within the sidebar
  5. Set your ‘Download Region’ to an appropriate nearby location and save the changes

Hey Lev,

I’ve switched on the “Small Network Packets” and my Download region was already set to UK - London which is reasonable but I’ve changed it to UK - Manchester.

This resolved the issue, but for curiosities sake I reverted the changes and it continues to work. If the issue happens again I’ll try your suggestions again and see what happens.

Thanks for the help.
