I guess I was one of few that got these skins nearly two years ago. Actually linking the accounts to receive them in-game was unnecessarily difficult. Hopefully that process has been streamlined a bit.
Personally, I was hoping for a recolor, as the skins’ names are different from those at launch, but I also realize many missed out. I’m thankful for the companies that run Twitch Drops campaigns (especially the non-predatory “purchase ‘x’ subs” types).
My only word of caution is to make sure you keep them special. Part of the joy/worth/clout of getting launch cosmetics is to show you were there from the beginning. If there was an issue with the launch campaign, it should be redone at the earliest opportunity, to keep that status intact. Re-issuing them again years later removes that entirety, and de-values them.
It’s a slippery slope. I respect Fat Shark’s efforts to ‘make things right’ for their community, but also feel a bit slighted now that the skins no longer mean what they used to. Hopefully the developers learn from this to ensure Twitch Drops campaigns aren’t so difficult to fulfill going forward, but also don’t devalue the drops so much that they’re no longer worth pursuing (“everyone has them…”,“if you missed out, they’ll be back”, etc.). Recolors are a compromise, as they reward your playerbase, don’t involve very much coding, and ensure “launch cosmetics” live up to their name.
i don’t agree much in exclusivity, cause it adds always some sort of elitism in the game and new players not having that extra options for cosmetics when in this games it lacks a lot of it.
good thing in VT2 they put back limited portraits, skins weapons back for everyone that missed them out.
