Trauma Staff and semi-permeable floors

I find the trauma staff’s interaction with porous floors frustrating. In its current state, if the trauma staff’s target circle is centered on a hole in a grated floor, the blast goes off on the next piece of terrain below.

I understand that ranged weapons firing through holes in surfaces is intended behavior, but I think the fun of the weapon suffers when my placement is off by the slightest bit and the blast goes off miles below me.

Its even funnier in the chasm logistratum event to me when your trauma circle goes through the map and hits one of the heretical idol spawns in the room below. New map is also terrible for it around the maintenance walkway Lambda.

Really is a pretty annoying happening.
