Tower of Treachery - Unsolved Mysteries?

Greetings,

so I have now completed the map a few times, managed to get all Okri’s Challenges as well as the Tomes and Grimoires (obviously with the help of forum reading and guides). Also found the minor secrets like the loose book or the “normal” room and the pages on the ground (minor in the sense that their effect is directly within visible reach).

That said there are still some open points in the Tower. Most notable is probably the Telescope where you can look through to see four star constellations as well as a wolf wandering through from the right to the left side. Is this only a red herring or is there something more to it? Just some meta hint for Sienna’s fourth career?

The other notable thing is the room to the left when we first meet Sofia. The room is initially closed and opens up during the conversation. There is an light blue upward stream with which damages you when you stand inside. I have found nothing which is connected to this. If this is only more fluff then why open it so “dramatic” during Sofia’s speech? Has anyone tried sacrificing himself inside the circle?

Last one is a minor one after you enter the area which was the entrance section during Vermintide 1. Up the stairs to the left is a small altar with a lever. Pressing it opens up the symbol behind it and there is some sound. But nothing else happens, no item or anything. More lore and red herrings?
EDIT: Okay, the small altar with the lever is for opening the large door, so that you dont have to press the six levers anymore.

On semi-related note: Map was fun. The throwbacks were very nice. The obvious one with the secret area at the lever puzzle was the most notable. But I also liked the detail with the Kruber Sreik being the intruders now and having to destroy the wards, in contrast to Vermintide 1 where we had to protect them. Also, the large room with the six levers is the final fight in Vermintide 1, right? That section where lever 5 is, seems to resonate with my memories.

Okay, replying to myself - just for some better structuring.

So, Reddit says that when you use the 3421 combination on the lever puzzle, you hear a jingle. Can confirm that a jingle is played when you use 3421 as the second combination. Another thing is that you technically can track back to the telescope room. An user had the suspicion that when you use the 3421 combination and then get all 10 skulls, there might be something new to see.
Thing is, the game crashes under these conditions. I have collected all 10 skulls before, twice or thrice actually, and had no crash. However, with the 3421 code active, it DID crash. Maybe it is related, maybe it is just random code wizardry. Hard to say at the moment.

That said, one can random guess stuff:

  1. Likely option number 1. It is nothing. Just Fatshark being mean to us with puzzles to nowhere.
  2. Option number 2, the telescope will show something new after getting all 10 skulls.
  3. Option number 3, after getting the skulls, you have to do some sequencing somewhere as 1,2,3,4 can be an order. There needs to be something round in the middle (the new specific illusion area or after more reading and thinking the well of soulds which would also fit with the fact that there are gates which have a skull counter on top) and the U5 have to take specific positions. This would fit well with the Trials of the Foolhardy which had a very similar puzzle with strange sequencing and positioning. So the well of soulds is another portal? Although you cant jump into it. Tried that already … for science reasons.
  4. Option Number 4 - and the most far fetched - the telescope scene is a meta hint with the star constellations indicating that something has to be done on OTHER maps. The three star constellation would indicate Drachenfels DLC, four stars would be BtU, two stars would be Bögenhafen and one star would be Dark Omen. The largest star in the constellation would hint towards the specific map where something is hidden. Very unlikely option though as it needs all DLCs … and would be very obscure.

Seems that before we get a hotfix, there will be no answer if this puzzle is leading somewhere or not.

EDIT: Welp, game is hotfixed now. So lever combination and collecting all 10 skulls works together. However, I havent found anything else. Backtracking to the telescope has been removed, so all in all there is probably not much more to discover? At least the skulls and/or the combination unlock two crypts in the final where enemy cant find you and the AOE doesnt reach you either. So, good to cheese the “Survive” phases during the final.

Next to telescope there is parchment with writings and it shows 10💀
So this might have something to do with it

In the lever room you can find a hidden passage behind a curtain (floor level), there a ladder brings you to a space where you can read 5123 below a lock symbol. If you use that code with the levers (like you would 1532) the table will fill up with potions, medpacks etc…

Yea, you can also summon a Rat Ogre when you use the barrels combination. But it doesnt seem that there is more to it.

Now there is no going back after collecting 10 skulls. So I deduce that it is a secret that is done at 2? And whose other will be punished and will not see immediately what the telescope could show?

I tried to come back with the BW. Impossible. Really very disappointed…

Which code is it and how do you find it?

@WhereIsBaoDur …Next to the telescope is a book with scribbles, one specifically shows 3+4+2+1=10 (with a skull next to it)

I was hoping to try it on a run last night but the group didnt care for combos and hit all 6… glad to hear others have tried…

My other thought was the wine barrels with numbers and skulls… but not sure how to get 8 or 7…

@Adelion the group only needs all 10 skulls for the 2 doors during fight… not sure what the jingle is… and I have yet to try…

I thought about it, if it is for two people. But so far I havent read about anyone trying it. So I am not sure there is actually something to discover. Maybe it really is just two different methods to open the crypts. Which would be a bit disappointing …

You mean to summon the Rat Ogre? I haven’t tried myself. But in the hidden room there are several numbered barrels. However, half of the numbers are not available as levers. Though, if you enter the combination of the remaining four barrel numbers from the left to the right, it shall spawn a Rat Ogre. I can check quickly.

@Adelion Maybe the combos with a skull on it means horde or skull could translate to a #. I dont know if the wine barrels is an equation…

Also, @Adelion Maybe the 4 numbers on the barrel you can add up. those 2 digits are the first two numbers and the second half you add up is the next too…This would fit the equation on the telescope…

I was in game with someone who said that 3421 in the lever room opens the little rooms with supplies in the end event.

It’s almost definitely collecting the skulls. That was the one time I got it open.
The patch notes do mention a code about it, so maybe a code will do as well

good to know, if people skip or miss skulls you have a way to unlock the end section. i guess the = sign literally means “is equal to” for this instance.

Yes, I’ve tried it and it works. Just keep in mind if you use that code you can’t try the others, so you should use it last.

Nice good to know. So either the skulls or the code opens the supply caches. And that code is known because of the eolf in the telescope?

Not because of the wolf in the telescope but because of the notice beside the telescope. I would have to check the actual screenshot:

So yea, it says 3+4+2+1 = 10* and 10* = 10 Skulls? It is a direct translation as it seems. Seems a bit redundant to make two ways, considering that the code is faster and easier.

So, it really remains a secret what the skulls are for other than the challenge (and a longer way to unlock the crypts)?

Makes me wonder if you can softlock yourself if you use the 3421 combination before opening the door.

You can’t really softlock, because hitting the two remaining levers opens the door. You are just prevented from resetting the code for some reason.

Yea, I just tried and saw it too. In that case it is strange that the 3421 even locks the combination after you already opened the door.

At least no unbeatable level.
