on one hand, it gives a better overview of the surrounding while you’re picking up a downed player. on the other, your own player model obscures the view, especially if you’re ogryn, and you stand near to a wall.
i think we should be able to choose if we want the game to switch to 3rd person or just show us the normal 1st person view, even if the hands don’t have a special “helping” animation.
is something like this doable with the perspectives mod for example?
i’m asking because i blew a clutch recently, got trapped in the last 0.2 seconds or so before freeing the other guy because my own model was in the way. sure that was on me, but the game switching to 3rd person although i don’t want that has always annoyed the heck out of me.
I always thought of it as a forgiveness mechanic in that if you’re in rescue state to a hostage to purposely let you spin 360. Imagine it would be even more risk if forced into 1st person still facing them and completely rely on audio.
Seems the game has turned into hardcore mode, death is death with the backfill issue already reported. In the sense if someone goes down, they might quit and bot won’t get replaced.
I see. I know when knocked down it allows downed players to tag enemies, but not when captured. It helps to tag incoming Trappers and Bursters for the player who is focused on picking you back up, because the Spec sound cue may not be working on their end.
That’s another reason why all team members should quickly swarm their downed teammate if possible, to protect the rescuer from Specialists.
that’s why i said the 3rd person view has its advantage. it’s just this case when you’re near to a wall that your own model gets in the way.
specifically it was the hacking room on comms plex, the little recess with the spawn point, and the trapper came through the door near the elevator.
i’m generally very much against a game doing its own thing, even if i don’t want that. so it’s about having the option, not being moved into 3rd person automatically.
and for something fixed several patches ago, why must things that worked get broken again with every patch
Actually anyone ever stack revive speed on all 3 curios. It becomes 2 sec revive. It is basically tiny moment longer than removing trapper net off someone.
