The trend that eats at Darktide core fun

People thought pre-nerf pickpocket scum was bad, Rampage scum is honestly worse. Rampage wipes out hordes and killed non-Crusher/Bulwark elites too fast. Rampage just kills everything, including bosses, much, much faster. It’s absolute dogbarf balance because it not only has hyper speed, incredible melee damage, attack speed, but also the single most broken (non-psyker) weapon in the game in the Needle Gun, that it never runs out of.

And, ofc, gun Scum was too strong, too. It needed nerfs, but they did the worst possible nerf that doesn’t actually nerf its damage potential by much, instead just making it a lot more annoying to play. As I said all along, they should have put Pickpocket as a node on Desperado or as its own keystone, not just a random node, AND given it debuffs for balance (reduced damage, cleave, things along these lines).

scum is terrible in general but I really don’t get why people are so obsessed with range only gameplay, like that is awful even when psyker does it, and they better not introduce another character that can do it. the game is simply not equipped to provide any semblance of challenge to that (if you say crusher I will slap you with an ogryn palm). its a freaking beat 'em up with some enemies that can laser-beam you back. get in there and beat them up.

I will now take a look into my 40k crystal ball and predict a not so far future, grim nonetheless, where there’s “purist mode” with only vintage characters and loadouts to keep atomic ults and weaponry from bismirching the experiences

like we need our own “dark age of dlc technology” before we go back to the roots

That’s just it; it’s apparently not for you. That’s okay. But it’s also okay for other people to like it, and some people like sometimes to switch from their pure-melee builds to something totally different. It can absolutely work, it just needs some balancing. And then, you know what? You don’t have to play it! I barely play Psyker because none of the builds interest me.

Old School Darktide Classic

I would take a fully customisable experience over almost anything at this point. Play with the knobs and dials until I get the pacing and density that makes my receptors scream!

truth be told I took a day off darktide yesterday for the event churns out recorded content easily :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

and I’ve yet again enjoyed the customizability of space marine 2 in terms of setting up matches, especially solo play.

all the yapping about which is whose class and whatnot simply nonexistent warp ether at the press of a button.

the peace I tell you setting your own pace through siege mode up and down is priceless
