??? I dont think these points have any connection. There were also arbite themed cosmetics before Arbites released. There are rogue trader themed ones as well but that shouldnt stop Fatshark from adding a “Rogue Trader” style class if they have the design for it.
They do not have to plan for “ganger all along”, nor is the release of cosmetics that are ganger affiliated mean that ganger was somehow some last minute addition. We know by the release of Arbites they had 3 class ideas on the “short list”.
Edit: Sorry have to add this, there are 6 personalities, multiple cosmetics, multiple new weapons, a 30 point talent tree with VFX & a completely secondary 30 point talent tree supporting a unique mechanic. There is no way, in hell, that Ganger is an “emergency content drop.”
Hard work and design has gone into bringing the class to the game, I am sorry it wasnt the one you were pining after.
We got a cinematic detailing the Arbites arrival, I am sure there will be some lore justification for the new reinforcements to coincide with story. I hope that this is the beginning of the next phase of Darktides storyline & we get new maps (beyond the upcoming operation) either before the new year or Q1 ‘26
Arbites looks awesome plus he’s got a dog. Even if his talents were mid or clones he was only about as much cash a premium skin. It was a no brainer purchase for me.
I don’t think there were, and don’t think GW would let them. I rememebr Palanite Enforcers only.
It’s not that it stops. But if you design class you design unique cosmetics that reflects class fantasy and identity.
You can’t buy death cult assassin or crusader set for veteran, or psychik collar for ogryn.
Voicelines are probably the most time consuming here. DT cosmtics are poor chinese outsource conveyor, not even serious to bring it.
Melee weapons are mundayne - crowbar, meataxe. There are no vfx or animation heavy stuff like with power or chain weapons having unique animations. 30 talents is a bit kek, considering how much of them are just vet+zealot recycle. Akimbo guns is a mechanic from V2, nothing crazy there. Stimms - who knows, but my bet those are just V2 trinket traits copypaste like proxy, concotion, etc.
No need, it’s classic FS yet again. They almost did a Blizzard move but DoNt YoU GuYs LiKe GaNgErS?
Palanite Enforcers are basically Arbites light, not officially a part of the team but the planetary police force of necromunda that operates in every way as an Arbites do including using the same gear & nomenclature. Basically as connected to the class as any “ganger” affiliated cosmetic would be.
Yes and ganger will get them. There are already tons of “cross class” cosmetic themes, even for ones that don’t make total sense (sanctioned psykers and ogryns for Krieg). Crusader is absolutely guard adjacent though btw, ex-guard→ zealot crusader pipeline is real.
1 you still need to animate it all the same, and I don’t think power or chain weapons are somehow more complex animation wise to be a heavier lift. New weapons are new weapons and require the same diligence unless they are literal reskins.
So it’s a mental gymnastics here? There were no arbites cosmetics for non-arbites classes, right?
They are close in equipment, not in their role. Arbites main role is to collect and escort tithe, including human resources like psykers on the Black Ships. They perform riot supression raids when riots can sabotage Imperium’s control over a planet and so tithe gathering.
Palanite Enforcers is a local planetary force on steroids.
It’s like saying that PDF are basicaly Astra Millitarum.
You see the thing here is that you can argue with me how ganger is cool and that you are personally happy. But just like it was with locks damaging the game, despite all the feedback, FS keeps being deaf towards community requests.
You may disagree with community sentiment, you can think people are overreacting, but this is the reality, and it’s not a surprise sadly.
My main complaint going into Arbites was that it wasn’t going to be the most interesting class to play. The weapons made it worse, I use shields or I don’t play it feels too redundant to the rest of the game. I basically only go back to it periodically when I want to play bully for a random team and not try at all. It is markedly better than ogryn at that with conventional dodge duration and hitbox size. Unless you are that rumblorc I guess but that feels even more boring than flame psyker.
I think both Hive Scum and Arbites suffer from the issue of not being unique enough gameplay wise. I’d like the classes to be as distinct as the difference between Psyker and Ogryn, or Waystalker and Slayer. This sort of breadth just isn’t there in DTs DLC classes. Arbites feels like a mix of existing classes and Hive Scum looks like it will too.
The dog made Arbites interesting for me though, let’s see if the stim mechanic manages to do the same for Hive Scum. Hope they drop more info on that.
I assume most people are trained to shoot a pistol with both hands on it Gangers… Perhaps dual wielding is their standard, so they’re simply more proficient using 2 guns than those who normally don’t.
The enforcers wear armor modeled on the Arbites, use shotguns & cybermastiffs, and enforce Imperial control of Necromunda. They are very close in aesthetic & “ability”. Just like the PDF is Imperial Guard light. They were even included as a special alternate army list in 3rd edition Codex Armageddon! And because it was a hive world the actual PDF forces were “Hive Gangers”. They were basically as strong as a basic IG infantry unit but with terrible leadership and worse equipment.
I assure you if this game did not have an Imperial Guard character and instead had a Ganger and the ganger had a punch of PDF force cosmetics, your same argument would apply here. And I also think it would be wrong.
Im not saying you can’t be disappointed or dislike Ganger, its just your reasoning reads like sour grapes. Just be mad about it! You dont have to try and justify it with really flimsy logic. You don’t like it and thats ok
Oh you’re right. I was never a fan of the 2 handed pistol grip animation. In every other 40k game, including table top, a sidearm is held with 1 hand, leaving the other free for another weapon. Only in Darktide do we have to hold our pistols like a trainee.
It’s not about me or you, again. Personal emotional bias is a low level. I’m not a big admech fan even.
It’s about FS’s inability to follow the oldest and the most desired community requests is a net-negative for the game as a whole, as a product. And it’s like that not only with classes, but with the rest of the problems be it balance or player agency.
