Hello! I’ve been informed that this is intended.

I have to ask why this is the case as surge works on both primery and secondary attacks on voidstrike staff.

It’s a bit confusing as the description doesn’t say that it doesn’t affect blast and elect staff secondaries and the only way to know this is by trial and error. If this is really how it’s supposed to function then the blessing is of questionable value.

This is one of many still completely misleading / incorrect blessing statements. FS really needs to get someone outside their usual team to review and update descriptions to work correctly, including providing the relevant footnotes and details to cover situations like this.

Agreed it’s value is pretty minimal on the Trauma… err… Voidblast staff.

seems like if it doesn’t work, it shouldn’t be a blessing for those weapons?

@CommanderJ Behold! More evidence than just your own about psyker staffs being busted!

Let me revisit this tomorrow.

It is truly baffling that FS has reworked blessings and all kinds of things for this latest update, and still manages to dare suggest that it is intended to have nonfunctional blessings on several of the staves.

While you look at this, Julia, you might also notice a few other blessings that do not and cannot work on the main attack of Voidblast. One might even suggest they are mindless bloat, only added to at one time increase RNG, and now to increase mastery grind.

About as useful as a blessing that staggers enemies, on a staff that already staggers every enemy in the game. Or a blessing that increases damage on second and third volley, but only on the primary attack.

Then why does Surge affect Voidstrike staff Secondary Fire?

I am confused, Voidstrike is the staff that is most “broken” by Surge, compared to Voidblast and Electrokinetic.

There is no reason why Electrokinetic and Voidblast should not be granted the same boost by the blessing that also is given to Voidstrike.

I disagree, True Aim allowing for double damage casts is high value, worth 1 Blessing slot.

surge staff has 8 blessings now and only 4 work with secondary attack 2 being optimal 2 being trash.
i do not understand why we cant have functional blessings for surge(staff). they can do so much with it.
here are some of my ideas:
replace barrage with PsyPull or some other name: pulls the secondary or primary targets of the secondary attack towards the other with the target of lesser mass reciving extra damage based on the mass of the bigger enemy (think gunner going splat against a crusher if both are targeted)
Full focus instead of transfer peril(it does not work on secondary attack either): makes the staff only deal damage to a single target but with the added damage of the secondary target.
I would love for blessings that actually change how weapons work instead of the mandatory power/crit/channel speed on everything.

Will it be possible to get an official reply from Devs on this? Surge blessing should apply to both primary and secondary fire on all staves. If it is only supposed to apply to primary fire then make it clear in the description and enforce this behaviour to be consistent.

I understood that @FatsharkJulia is on it, maybe we get something on Monday.

Yes, I hope to have a response for you tomorrow!

I want Electrokinetic’s Surge to jump on 1 more target on crit hit

It’s sad that the developers don’t listen to more fans of their game when it’s a pure PVE game.
Could make the game more enjoyable with community ideas.

… and of course remove Surge from non-synergy staves.

surge blessing is very usefully in voidblast staff and ele staff, good update

Surge working on trauma secondary could also lead to an interesting alternate build choice. Combining Surge and Blazing Spirit and foregoing crit chance boosting to instead get guaranteed crits through true aim. You could use either melee or trauma primary fire to build true aim then do a guaranteed double blast with double blazing spirit proc before going back to building true aim.

This would offer an alternate, much less spammy Trauma setup that probably wouldn’t even be better than the current warp flurry spam, but would offer a reasonably powerful setup with a distinct gameplay loop to what we have currently.

It’s frustrating that all the pieces for this are basically already there but the Devs insistence on making surge inconsistently primary only outside of voidstrike completely blocks it from being a reality. Actually I have a feeling from using it that blazing also has a restrictively low fire stack cap, though I may be wrong about that, if I’m correct though it would be nice if they could also address that.

It’s not even “bad” necessarily on Surge since you can build around primary fire respectably now, but it IS needlessly restrictive and boring that it works this way.
