Suggestions and other Ideas

Hello All,

The current state of the game shows considerable progress and is very fun, the following post just discusses some possible improvements that are Secondary. I want to know what the community thinks about these concepts

Rats

  • Make Hook Rats not able to hook downwards too steeply?

If you’ll consider anything here please consider this one. There is a plethora of places where the hook rat hooks somebody from the roof and impales them in a place unreachable to U5 or out of bounds. Especially in Against the grain, in round one the first house you reach is a death sentence.

I don’t know if this is balanced like this on purpose, or what the community thinks about it but it basically has no counter on most places and everyone I see playing Against the grain goes around the house to avoid the death sentence of hooks in the attic. If this is not expected behaviour, either the hookrat itself (maybe other solutions such as sound cues even if standing still can be thought of) or a list of places in different maps now and in the future are going to be needed to be constantly checked for these problems.

  • Poisoned Wind Globadier Charge

If the rat is not currently reloading, it could do a small charge and leap to basically produce the same cloud. Given this rat’s slow movement speed this rat finds itself more than others being left behind. in certain parts of the maps it can be quite difficult to get the “[Q]catch up to heroes” dialogue to pop up, you need to stay completely still or something, and adding this could make it a way to easily reset as having to run away (or towards) slowly from U5 can be particularly frustrating. Additionally it just sounds like fun

  • Ratling gunner reload time

I think it is potentially too long. Additionally, if you use “[Q] catch up to heroes” after having used your ammo you need to reload again, when you’re freshly spawned, making this reload time even harsher. Alternatively, to have any reason to pick this over a warpflame rat, having the projectiles have longer range could maybe be a good alternative

Quitters

After one group goes first as heroes and fully completes the map baking 150 points it is common to have quitting players.

I dont know if a ranked mode of Versus is being planned, but regardless, to avoid this a "Surrender Vote" option could be added.

Heroes / U5

Related to above It is common to have HotJoining, the bot disappears too quickly even while the player that is HotJoining is not even on the game yet. Particularly confusing if you’re playing with said bot. (it is possible to have no active heroes on the map and be looking around for a nonexisting hotjoining player as a rat)

Lobby

  • Timer for time spent in matchmaking queue

at certain hours of the day it can take a bit to find a match. Having a timer would make it better on your psyche so time spent waiting is not overestimated, as one commonly does when waiting.

  • Map marker bottoms unbreakable or breakable

Maybe the least useful of all, as a big lobby fidgeter, I tend to go around breaking lamps and candles and bottles, but in Versus, when breaking the markers in the Select Mission map, they sound like bottles when broken but are not all breakable.
