Alright typed this once or twice elsewhere in less relevant topics, so being lazy I’ll try to just pitch some ideas/examples on what I had in mind:
a. X Pistol +Y Melee Combos: Other than looking far cooler [like Salty’s Rapier+pistol] “Special” instead of a push like on pistols currently, would swap the dominant weapon [maybe even still do a push effect while it swaps] (yes I know weapon swap time is basically zero for these, but it doesn’t look/feel as cool lol):
So… Primary fires pistol, secondary would block (and can do a melee counter/push) [?can’t ADS as a ‘tradeoff’ to having convenient blocking/closing ability?]…press special, do a pistol whip/push and now its a chainsword melee on primary, secondary still block ; special again, do a chainsword push/light sweep and it’s primary shooting again ---- This can blend into a neat combo where you are deliberately swapping to stunlock/push enemies while shooting them direct, then swap to horde management and back again [and woudl blend very well with ‘close damage’ modifiers and ranged damage
b. Force Staves: ‘Special’ Charges the staff (like a proper force weapon) and converts the primary attack into a melee attack for the duration of charge [maybe also enable blocking with secondary attack to make it full [temporary] melee option in a pinch … or jsut amke it push instead of useless melee attack currently there XD
c. Slab Shield + Power Maul: …Actually let us charge the power maul? So now it can swap between ‘elite killer’ and ‘meat shield’ …solution is make “Special” charge the maul as usual, and let the shield ‘Brace’ automatically when standing still blocking for say 1.0s without any movement inputs.
d. …? I’m sure there are many interesting/creative ways hybrid can be done across the board beyond just bayonets (which are still good imho, and right on track with this thinking… maybe with a buff like a “movement speed boost” while bayonet is charged)
