There is an idea there. Make base like a social hub. People can already use public chat there, which does create some sort of part of something bigger atmosphere.
Add some fun mini games like table tennis, classic arcade type games. (Obviously breaking Warhammer lore here) so you can sit, add friends list, Party up, PM other players roaming round as a break from missions. Maybe a bar you can buy drinks and pass to other players to drink. Drinking games but then too drunk your character stops following proper movement and falls all over the place. Little humour here and there.
Make the place feel less empty and not just a 3D environment wrapper for menus.
I just bought this game about a week ago for $27 on steam. Turns out I bought it right after the new maps and Chaos Spawn were added.
This game is unbelievably fun. There’s practically no content at all in the game, but that’s how all modern games are designed. The gameplay is phenomenal, though.
From what I understand, it sounds like this game was pretty bad when it first released, but as it stands right now it seems great.
Is it worth $40? I think a better question is: is it worth 40 hours? And I think so, yes.
I preordered Diablo 4 for $70 and I’m playing Darktide alone while everyone I know, including my 40k friends, are playing Diablo.
I understand that my suggestions would limit the sale of cosmetics, but we already have the bionic eye that works for three of the available classes.
If Fatshark wants to sell more cosmetics, then perhaps they could release the same cosmetics for all three classes with minor variations; the veteran’s forehead goggles would have worked great for psyker and zealot, perhaps with a different texture or color to set them apart. The same goes for the Veteran’s vest, the Zealot’s Drill Abbess Pants (which I like a lot), etc.
There are already so many “punky” and fancy styles in the table top game that I don’t understand why everything has to be so boring, simple and “serious” in Darktide. For crying out loud, there are OFFICIAL Chaos Noise Marines wearing electric guitars, rainbow mohawks and leopard print pants over their armor.
Again, just look at some ofthe Necromunda stuff!
What I’m getting at is that just because Psyker is the “wizard archetype” doesn’t mean that every single piece of cosmetic gear they have has to be that way. Zealot’s outfits doesn’t constantly have the preacher thing going for them.
Use some imagination, please!
Warhammer has always been pretty meme:ble and did not take itself too seriously, so I do not know why Fatshark is trying to do that here.
There’s some cool stuff for Veteran and Psyker in the files that might be released in the future, but there’s hardly anything for Zealot that is not kind of preachy garb, and I think that’s a real shame.
Moving on…
Something similar to Chaos Wastes is something I would really like to see in Darktide!
What I mean by “more loot” is that instead of an Imperial Gift at the end of a completed mission, killing bosses, general achievement, etc could increase the amount of loot to maybe three to five items.
I also think that bosses should drop resources when you kill them, since they are not particularly interesting on their own unless its your first time encountering them in the game.
Just look at some things that Fatshark could have added as cosmetics:
There are infinitely resources to draw upon from the table top game.
Not satisfied at all.
Shooting and slashing is fun, sound and music amasing, but rest is really bad.
Crafting annoyingly overcomplicated.
We still have only 5 levels and 4 heroes. Even new missions got us do same stuff, put interrogator, scan, clear corryption yead yada.
Story as bein non existed, still doesn’t moved at all.
Mission board still doesn’t let play missions we want.
The characters are my biggest disappointment. Vermintide delightfully spoiled us with dialogue, something my friends and I came to expect.
I feel this fundamental design choice means we have to wait until a Darktide 2, where they can maybe introduce characters.
Look at Space Marine, Captain Titus became a freaking model! He is now being slowly introduce to the lore of the grim dark and fans are speculating on the what happened to him during the time he was gone, why he was demoted etc. etc… This just builds upon itself to hype people up about space marine 2…
I dont want to open a closed wound, it’s just disappointing… the potential lost and replaced by a hollow “customizable” character.
@Kharneth I got Darktide day 1 and burnt out after 500 hours. I agree with you on the Diablo side of things. Darktide has the potential to be something players will always come back too as long as its supported, just like Vermintide series. The biggest issue with FS is they take years (yes years!) to fix systems, if even at all.
Unfortunately for Darktide, A few of the systems already need overhauls and its completely devoid of any endgame content.
I love the core gameplay, i just wish it wasnt so hard to get to it.
TL:DR : I just want to slay heretics with all kinds of different builds/equipment, is that so much to ask for?
The whole reason everyone keeps ranting on these forums instead of just finding another game is because the game is very good. Which makes it especially frustrating when the fun/awesome gameplay is gated by absolute sewage which is literally everything that is morningstar.
The whole reason i stopped playing 3 months ago is because i just could not get the build i wanted because the crafting is so terrible. In vermintide all i had to do i spend 2-5 minutes and i’d get the perfect equipment that i wanted and could experiment with them, and then spend 3 hours actually playing the game on the highest difficulty which is the only one fun for me.
In darktide… Im stuck with the same equipment and if i wanted to try out some other stuff i’d have to grind endlessly to get it or use a mediocre version on low difficulty which is boring and slow AF.
Same. Or even worse since FS stubborness since Vermintide makes me just mad. They never listen
Character customization is still a joke. We got different colors? WoW, nice. How about more faces, more armors/skins to unlock IN GAME, not cash shop? Different body types? More tattoos, hairs, colors?
RNG on top of RNG as gigantic waste of time ("time sink). I can’t even try out loadouts. Like I want to try “Blessing X” with weapon Y combined with Z but I have to spend weeks trying to get that blessings, trying to get decent perks, trying to get decent rolls? I have no time for that. My biggest NOPE of this game and main reason I won’t launch it.
Lack of content. Seriously, one new map in 6 months?
Classes as far as their talents are underwhelming.
Still gameplay decisiosn that I won’t stand behind or understand like making Stamina being blocked from regen on dodge and making blocks and dodge share same resource. Vermintide 2 formula works much better and is way more elegant, movement and flow is better in V2. Why mess with something that worked? I don’t know, FS probably also don’t know.
Game is now barely in state it should have been on release, minus the obscure RNG that should be completely removed. Great co-op games (L4D, TF, DRG) don’t need RNG to be played. If game is good, people will play it. RNG only makes us not want to play, despite what your bright lads with excel sheets told you.
How do I feel? Well, I sunk 500h in DRG, 150h in 40k: Martyr, another 50h in WH40k: Boltgun, 150h in PF:WOTR, waiting for Rogue Trader and Space Marine II.
Why do I list those games? For Fatshark to finally realize in their thick heads that gaming market is HUGE. If you design your game to waste my free time with your RNG: I will simply go and play different game, becasue I have hundreds to chose from. You are but a drop in gaming market.
Don’t waste my time as customer. Entertain me with product and I will stick for a long time and even throw you more money.
disapointed in how slow they have been shipping actual content , so few class’s is kinda hurting . i get why, but still hoped for more.
wish they would do some work on audio ques thats my main grip with the actual game, but other than that the core game is fantastic and im not bothered by the extrinsic systems being a mess /absent.
I lost count of how many years i waited for this game lmao, I was really hoping for a near 1:1 vermintide experience (mission select, hosted lobbies and hub lobby lol) only for it to turn into a bootleg deeprock galactic thing just killed me honestly and let’s not forget weapon modding that just never came to be LOL
My friends got hyped for this and bought the super editions only for it to be half baked, suffice to say I feel like I scammed them when they were playing at 10 fps magistrati oubliette
I reallyyyy want adventure maps back, proper ones without the hold e to deploy an interrogator and wait for 3 minutes for a bar to fill up dont even get me started on the puzzle before you can keep moving.
Crafting is still a huge time waster lol
Wish they gore was better too, take notes from dead island 2 and all the other games ive listed before ty fatshark lmao (I already made a thread for that long ago I don’t wanna list everything again)
There’s defo more but I can’t remember/am too tired to really care typing given that at this point I don’t think fatshark cares anymore LOL
I HATE this so much, sprinting as a resource should never of been a thing, I love sprinting to my teammate that walked off only to have no stamina left for blocking a gang that amassed on him
Poll is missing a “is (probably) worth 40€ but I don’t recommend it to others” option
I voted “not satisfied” even if I tecnically got my moneys worth out of it in the eyes of others.
The game is a shell of what it could and was supposed to be and the biggest painpoints are not being worked on or cannot be changed while the devs openly pad themselves on the back.
The biggest thing for me is the slow content drip for a game that didnt start out as a full game, and an over reliance on RNG thats more harmful to player retention then good. And the fact that fatshark is just DEAF to what the community wants from them: Remove RNG from crafting and the map selection, give us more subclasses, give us more dakka, and for Thrones sake STOP TRYING TO INTRODUCE FOMO TACTICS TO THE COSMETICS STORE. THE EXCUSES YOU COME UP WITH TO JUSTIFY IT IS NOT CONVINCING US. ITS INSULTING THE INTELEGENCE OF YOUR ENTIRE PLAYERBASE!
This. There are so many little attempts to trick the player into sinking more time into the game, and all of them are insultingly obvious and wrapped in corpo speak to sugar coat it and try to convince us the devs are actually doing us a favor by wasting our time.
It’s so stupid that they think it’s necessary to resort to this kind of stuff when the one thing people unanimously agree is good about the game is the moment to moment combat, and unanimously think is terrible and pushes people away is the obvious gacha trickery. It’s like they aren’t confident the gameplay is good enough to hold people, when in reality it’s probably the only reason anybody is still playing.
I’m somewhere between “generally satisfied” and “not worth $40” (I payed $60, local currency).
The biggest downer for me is being pigeonholed into playing just one class, and this is a pretty big downer.
Other than that, gameplay is good enough to warrant a positive response to this survey.
Crafting is a big whatever, since it’s genuinely not needed to be able to play the highest difficulties the game has to offer. Same for cosmetics.
