At the same time, the question has been answered. According to the OP, multiple times. Is the goal to repeat the question until the answer changes?
My friend (the one I keep referencing) keeps joking with me that I’m probably on the “oh no, not him again” list at Fatshark. Whenever I tell him about my posts/comments.
He goes “I’m pretty sure they have a sign with your name on it saying ‘watch out for this crazy solo player.’”
The answer of “it’s not a priority” is a non-answer, nor was it given in a public announcement.
It doesn’t give any information as to why it’s no longer a priority, nor why it went from “almost done” to “not in a state we’re happy with” to “let’s just not talk about it and see if they forget.”
Basically, I’m asking them to put up a dev blog or even just an announcement to publicly acknowledge that this is a feature they’ve neglected to address. They’ve talked about classes and gave us a new talent system. They’ve talked about itemization and crafting and given a couple updates, including adding crafting, before this latest rework. But they’ve never talked about the lack of solo mode in an announcement outside of that one I quoted from pre-release. They’ve responded to posts like mine once or twice, and responded to a DM, but that’s not a public announcement.
Yes it is. It’s an answer you don’t like, there’s a difference. It doesn’t require a public announcement since it’s a niche feature.
In software development, critical bugs and issues can appear at any time. It’s quite possible that the team hit a multitude of blockers or bugs or even potentially that they had a meeting about capacity planning and realized that if they allowed played to spin up individualized instances, it would cost them too much. I don’t know what the answer is but any of these are possible. So even if the single player mode was close to the finish line, it’s possible that they encountered something that made them reconsider.
You’re going to say “They should have communicated this with us” … maybe? They’ve done surveys, I’m sure they would like to address items that are more important to them. In fact, you already have Julia’s eyes on this thread, maybe you’ll get more clarity on why single player (in a coop game) is no longer a priority for FatShark.
Again, they ran a survey, I’m sure they analyzed the data. If you’re heard of the Pareto principle, they will address the 20% of features that 80% of the player base cares about.
Personally, I would rather FatShark put time and effort into literally ANYTHING other than a solo mode
Cool, good for you. It’s still a feature that was promised to be in the game and as I’ve said repeatedly, Darktide is the only game in this genre to NOT have a solo mode. So nice try with that “co-op” game argument.
And as you said, Julia has already said she’ll pass on the request. Will she actually do it? No idea. Will they act on it? Equally unsure, but probably not. Either way, I’m going to keep pressing this issue for those of us who actually care.
