So what is the selling point of Plasma Gun now?

Does Fatshark not understand why the Plasma Gun has such a high pick rate? All other ranged weapons for the Veteran are nowhere near as effective against Specials.I have a feeling the Plasma Gun will still be the go-to weapon for Havoc 40 even after this update.

What I don’t get is that Fatshark added a new node that grants +50% Ranged Cleave, but does this node actually help the Veteran’s other ranged weapons against Specials at all?

Also, when I saw this new node in the update preview, I thought:Why not just add this effect to the Veteran’s class trait?Hive Scum gets +1 Effective Dodge by default, and Ogryn has a strong 20% damage resistance, while the Veteran’s class trait—shooting while peeking from cover—is completely useless and barely noticeable.

And you would know how? Have you ever even used a charged shot before? There’s been no reason until now.

Give it a spin then give feedback

Plasma will always be the go to weapon for veteran because it is the only weapon in their arsenal that can reliably deal with the absurd amount of carapace armor thrown at you in Havoc 40 without burning all your ammo in one carapace clown car (looking at you bolter).

Fatshark doesn’t want to fix the main problem which is the carapace spam pushing the meta towards anti armor weapons, if we had bigger mixed hordes with more ragers, gunners and regular zombies we would see more light weapons like autoguns and lasguns (maybe not infantry lasgun, for the love of the Emperor had a full auto option to this carpal tunnel inducing nightmare)

And we know this because the old meta before talent trees used to be ‘mostly infantry las and maybe a bolter for one guy’ because crushers were rare.

Updating after trying it. Swap speed concerns were unreasonable indeed. But it seems like something is off. Currently plasma cannot penetrate mutants at all, doing zero damage to targets behind mutants. According to games lantern mutant hit mass is 10.

If plasma has a cleave of 18 it must go through the mutant, yet that is not the case. Special interaction? Intended or a bug? Are there other such interactions?

It’s probably bugged, friend of mine was using it yesterday and was saying he had to double tap specialists

Nerfing plasma made more weapons reasonably usable instead of just a downgrade, sounds like a good increase in weapon variety.

It never made sense that a “heavy” weapon with 2 dodges had near instant swapspeed anyway.

Are you kidding, Commissar? These babies are genuine 10k tech! Dark Age of Technology even. I can hook you up!

You ask what the selling point is. Great question, great question! The answer is safe-T. Each and every weapon I sell is guaranteed pre-owned by a loyalist Space Marine chapter, and post at least one overheat event!

What? No, no, no, you’ve got it wrong, Commissar! Put down that pistol - It’s a nice piece, did you get it from me? I can offer – No, look, post-overheat means they’re safer than when they were forged! Every faulty coil, or whatever, has been replaced by modern Techs to be maintained and operated in this millennium. See that, the 40K Seal. Safe-T! This pattern boasts a fast, totally-totally safe quick fire mode, and a mostly-safe, ammo efficient high-charge mode you could use as a mining drill.

The selling point, as you put it, is more dead heretics with fewer operatives instantly converted to superhot gas. Practically zero. Look, let me put it this way, Commissar: Only the stupid ones, okay?

ive heard reports of it being bugged, and the devs are aware of it, so theyre taking a look at it
i think it was an issue in regards to the seperation of the hipfire/charged, and what the hipfire used to be (just a charged shot set to 50% for every value), but instead of detaching those values so they can be adjusted independently, they werent properly detached so the charged shot got the cleave nerf and the light has half of that (which would make it 9.5, lining up with your results). bear in mind, this isnt intentional and will be fixed

I am so so sick of these outright lies. The vast majority of every patch is buffs. There are effectively 45+ difficulty levels, but god forbid havoc 40, the niche masochist difficulty, not be a casual walk through.

I cannot understand why anyone would argue top difficulty to be easier when it was created specifically to give the sweats something they wouldn’t have an unreasonably high win rate on. We have Auric for hectic but still comfortable to carry.

did developers force you to play high havoc?
