I have fun playing sniper vet in Havoc, good stats too ![]()
MK4 Helbore with Surgical and Marksman Focus allows you to 1 shot any target except Crushers in H40. 1 shotting reapers and bulwarks is extremely useful in Havoc
Ofc you can still deal huge dmg to monstrosities as well
I’m not claiming to be the best vet player but I’ve been going through data on the subject trying to answer this exact question and I’m not done yet BUT preliminarily: A tacaxe (i prefer Mk7 because PA/Heavy has good sweeping characteristics) with Unarmored and Flak with Bromentum and Headtaker swings quickly enough and hits enough targets that it is able to safely be used in a horde on a exes/mf build without feeling bad. And its safe due to its good mobility and stagger special.
Power falchion is okay feeling but haven’t tested on this build.
Dueling Sword IMO is actually a poor choice as you say, horrible TTK into hordes on this kind of build.
Me personally I use either the Tacaxe You mentioned, or Dclaw since the parry can be really good as well as having good swings into horde, you’ll shoot everything else anyways
Like I said, its perfectly viable, the gun hits like a truck.
However, making things harder for yourself doesn’t make it better, just harder. For me, the payout is simply not there using helbore, but than again, I don’t enjoy shooting whatsoever either.
My point is, if a playstyle frustrates you, pick another instead of complaining. As the psyker would say: “They are just doing their job” ![]()
On the sidenote, the fastest helbore with hotshot + withering fire cleaves aight even on havoc, have you tried that combo?
Tac Axe 7 w/ Bromentum, Antax/Rashad C-Axe w/ Bromentum, any of the DClaw with a vertical strikedown, and any of the Power Falchion.
There, made one for ya. Taxe7 is by far the best low investment melee on vet. PA will stagger dreg ragers , win. Also, don’t forget exe stance makes you unstunnable, you CAN use it to deal with ragers melee.
If revolver were broken op like plasma or bolter I’d actually agree, but it’s not, and on havoc 40 you need to shoot all day BECAUSE the constant stream of enemies that need to be dealt with.
Why design the balance around havoc instead of the standard game? Nobody’s asking for Darktide to be balanced around expeditions or mortis trials. Nobody in VT2 was asking for the game to be balanced around weaves or chaos wastes or DWONS.
yea wtf fatshark, there’s so many fking filters on the forum (and used to be in-game) but that’s just okay?
i personally wish it was made like in vt2, where main source of ammo was on various fixed ammo crates but limited across the map where to pick ammo from.
i think also chests in darktide is lazy design, in vt2 things like potions and grenades could spawn outside chests in some spots. most of items in dt are just inside chests, so in dt ur forced to open them which is kind of annoying just to get ammo, stimms or medi pack. basically you have to go for it just to be efficient
but yea in auric ammo is never an issue, when imo it should be a problem. not to the havoc levels but it shouldn’t gift ammo so much… otherwise it simply make things trivial. the fact ammo was a limited resource in Vermintide, was one of the reasons why it was difficult.
being obligated to engage packmasters or specials in general in melee it was peak. and i don’t get it why ranged playstyle should be considered a thing especially if “infinite” it’s like people forgot and going against what was the inner core design of the genre.
there are other good things but revolver with a certain veteran build can keep very well in havoc. then up to certain modifiers of havoc and what not.
i guess it depends by the context
for example there is “niggardly” which is an actual word in english but is unrelated to the racial slurs stuff because it has nothing to do with that
but i agree that if there are already many filters about certain words then at that point it should cover every potential malicious word regardless of the context just for coherency
was it this game that used to censor “sniper”? good times
Or hitting F every 80 seconds and getting back 90% of ammo, right? ![]()
But being a literal Primarch melee simulator gets a pass?
Fantasy Warhammer has lore backing in Gotrek and Felix when it comes to melee, but by 40k melee standards my Vet is lorewise a Warhound titan stumbling upon a heretic kindergarten…
you engage with enemies and it exposes you more at risk with specials.
but i think in general it should be a 50/50 between melee and ranged like it was always since vermintide. and darktide was supposed to be like this until things changed and due to the balance in general, you can do either melee or ranged with no real problem.
for example yea i can just take any specials with melee and never use ranged ever
in vt2 i can do this still but it is way more difficult doing that and ranged feels so much needed to take away specials for how threatening they are.
In fact due to the strange computational model , 75% finesse is really useless.
If uer body damage is 100 and uer weakness damage is 200,the finesse will only increase (200-100)x0.75 of danmage. To lasguns this increase is too low and not that easy to get .
Yeah its better than it was but still not as impactful as you’d like for a ranged keystone. I just use weapon specialist unless I have hellbore. But I am executioner brained again so I try to avoid diving through the middle path because the CDR node is unavoidable and a total dead node if you have the 9s ult. Vet still has way too many nodes in general so I’d rather pick 30 live ones.
Why make a game mode that isn’t balanced?
I hate seeing this type of reply, don’t balance the game you will ruin the other content.
The revolver sucks in aurics because of the density of enemies, sure you can bring it and it’s fun but you can currently bring anything into aurics even grey weapons and beat it.
What everyone should be complaining is the gameplay isn’t intense because going up the difficulties even havoc 40 the players are basically immortal. That isn’t from the guns, it’s from too much shield regeneration abilities and golden toughness. Nerf the vet shout to remove gold toughness, it would be better if it just topped every up and even that would be super strong, then increase its cool down rate. Leave the golden toughness on the zealot book but make it a 2 minute CD that can be reduced down to 1minute 30seconds max. Or leave it’s short CD and and remove Regen/gold but keep the stuns.
As for weapons they should be balanced at all difficulties by adding a simple damage modifier to the level difficulty. It’s not making the game easier it’s making more play styles available. Horde density is out of control and the weapons players use reflects the current balance
