Current smite is about buying time for your team when you’re overwhelmed. It is very situational but can save a game if your team can follow up and kill the stunned horde.

Though to be honest i would prefer to shoot lightning bolts to decimate the enemy rather then what we have now. I was very disappointed when i first tried it out. But i still use it on my psyker, it may not be the most flashy or powerful ability but it most certainly is NOT useless.

but where is the challenge ofc its there for saving ur team but its a boring way to win and almost everyone spams it but about that lightning bolt that would be fukkin awesome

Every good player knows Smite can be used in two ways:

  • To stun a horde when things are getting hairy to create some breathing room
  • To decimate a dense horde (only with Empowered Psionics)

And that’s it. If they’re using it without Empowered Psionics they will rarely ever pull it out and only in the worst of situations; with Empowered Psionics they would usually do it when they’re left to kill the horde on their own because the team is cut off or otherwise occupied - so not very often.

The players who smite all the time are just bad, the blitz is absolutely alright. You could obviously make an argument that you can’t expect players to always use their brain and game balance should take that into account, but then we’d have to open up an entire other debate about things like Voice of Command, Plasma Gun, Rumbler or Assail as well.

Can’t disagree. Hate the entire reworked Psyker tree tbh

nah, old surge was

I prefer shield bubble.

But smite is ok. Better to “feather it” (unless they changed it. Ending smites staggers people back sometimes, knocks down walkers. Starting and drilling it can be more useful and use less peril.

Smyker mains are the worst.
Damage is always at the the lowest in the run.
Usualy goes down all the time beacuse they can’t handle anything, only smite the whole run.
Destroys every proc from dodging.

It’s such a noobtrap and very few times I’v seen a smite player beeing good
Just stunlocks everything goes down 5 times and pats themselves on the shoulder thinking they helped by not killing anything.

They should realy nerf smite a lot
it’s insane you can have so much uptime and not just situational usaged

Yeah it’s a CC spell, not DPS.

With proper support they shine. Perhaps not pub-friendly unless you get lucky, but awesome with a team that knows how to complement each other!

It’s funny that you end with this after trashing it, but I agree it is a very powerful spell! I’m glad there are strong support abilities in this game.

Smite is a good blitz. It just attracts a lot of noobs who rely on it for everything

First you call it a noobtrap and that smite users are useless then you say it should be nerfed? what? Do you even think before you speak?

Smite already is very situational and ideally you wouldnt want to use it at all in a match when everything goes smoothly. If you’d nerf it, then it truly would be completely useless.
Its the kind of ability you hope you will never need to use. but when $hit hits the fan you’re going to thank the god emperor you had the CC stun with you instead of assail/brain pop.

Smite is fine the way it is (for the purpose of CC). Personally i’d prefer if they reworked it into a sith lord damage dealing ability (with imporved/upgraded sounds and visuals) but whatever.

Disagree. One of the best uses is as an initiator on an unsuspecting pack o’ fools, or on an incoming mixed horde. Keep 'em rooted in place so you can smash 'em faster!

An ability named Smite should be a ‘call lightning’ type deal, not a static tickle.

Extremely cringe, boring and braindead ability, would be in the psykanium if I was looking to fight target dummies. I just sprint away from it and they usually manage to find a way to go down and leave the game despite having a safety bubble and near infinite AoE stunlock.

Ah, for the love of co-op

Lol

Ye, this thing is usefull, yet I wish people didn’t smite the horde, it takes too much time to kill every individual spread out gooner

Sorry but “end of game damage bad” argument is not an argument for anything tbh. It can be if you make the right throat clearings beforehand. Damage =/= usefulness or an indication if one is bad at the game in general. I’ll give you an example. If I play purgatus staff and burn waves a bit in the backlines, by myself with the back against a corner I will kill more or less the same number of enemies I would kill if my positioning was correct. Purgatus in my opinion is played best in the midst of your team to alleviate and create space for them. The damage number would be around the same (most likely a bit lower for the guy chilling in the background), yet one would have supported their team in one example and the other would have simply gathered damage numbers. But yes I do agree that the people that rely on it for everything are annoying but are most likely newer to the game and use it as a crutch to enter auric. At least that’s my reasoning.
