I love having the weekly mode for both Adventure & Chaos Wastes, but some of the modifiers make me NOPE out real quick. While a lot of players have complained and advocated for bigger changes, I think there are some very simple “low hanging fruit” changes that would take Fatshark devs very little time, and greatly improve the experience for players.
Ranald’s Sparkling Gift
The fix: Make bots exempt from this modifier. That’s it. Otherwise, two things happen:
- You get the gift, and murder your bots
- The bots get the gift, and they murder you
As it stands, the only way this mode is remotely possible is having a full team. If you don’t, you have to friendly-fire and kill the bots immediately before they can take you out. Bots are already exempt from “Curse of Comradeship”, so make them exempt to this one too. This is a much simpler fix than trying to update the bot AI to handle this mode properly.
Critically Unstable Breed
The fix: Make the hordes of bomb rats come much less frequently. I think once every 3-8 minutes would be a good amount. Give the break time some RNG to keep things interesting.
Currently, they spawn at an insane frequency, with only 10 or 20 seconds gap between hordes of them. This makes the bomb rats alone challenging to deal with, and then when you factor in other enemies, you just get overwhelmed… plus, the annoying AAAAAAA sound they make starts to drive you insane, because you’re just constantly hearing it the entire round. That makes this mode currently fun for about the first five minutes, until you’re saying “Sigmar give me a breather from these goram screaming rats” and then you never play the mode again until a couple months later when you decide to give it another try… and then quickly start hating it again.
Curse of Comradeship
The fix:
- Make downed teammates exempt from the effects.
- Increase the range before you start getting hurt. I would say double it.
Currently, the range is just WAY too close. Sticking together is something players know how to do (especially on high difficulties) but this is requiring much closer than even that. Then since downed players still apply the curse, one downed person often results in wiping the whole team. Unless you have a premade team all on voice comms, sticking together is virtually impossible; even with a premade, sometimes you just have to scatter for a moment, or are forcibly scattered (example: one person sent flying by a boss). The penalty for this should be losing some health and maybe one person gets knocked down, not a guaranteed wipe of the entire team.
