Slow down combat a little?

Who knew that if you give crushers more HP, the weapon that is best at killing crushers gets better? Wish Fatshark did more complete solutions than just one step of them at a time then leaving it for a year. There hasn’t been proper followup for that significant balance patch yet and it’s been months. Instead they just pump out paid classes. Very disappointing

I kinda like that tbh, ragers are fun.

They increased crusher HP, said they would reduce their spawns and then immediately released an event that increases spawns of said crushers while making them even tougher (specifically against ranged) and it becomes a modifer that has all the issues crusher design has, further exacerbated by the rainbow modifiers. And continue to release events with elevated spawns of those crushers.

I honestly think the separate teams in Fatshark don’t talk to each other or even look outside their sphere, and that there is no one person or team handling overall project management and integration. Every team is siloed in their own little world, their output is slapped into prod with no one else checking, with QA only focusing on getting past crashes to pass cert.

Try Vermintide 2. It will give you what you want for pacing. Also a tide game.

Or play lower difficulties with not max talents and crappy gear in a private match with friends doing the same.

But playing Vermintide 2 I think is the better option.

lol if they’re anything at all like the QA people I work with, getting them to do anything to improve a final product that is in dire need of improvement is gonna be like pulling teeth

Now there’s an idea we all want.

What if we nerfed some outliers and then did like…a coherent balance patch around enemies? 2 years of “its still dueling sword" kinda sucks bro

The core problem is toughness and in particular toughness replenishment. Like all gating mechanics, once they are exploitable ( and that is always quite easy to happen) the game gets a serious balance problem.
In the case of Darktide it is too easy to replenish toughness to full between two incoming hits with any class. This leads to only disablers and bleed through attacks being potential dangers. Add to that the insane killing potential we have and hordes are no longer threats but instead mobile toughness refilling stations.
Once you live in that balance all you can do to achieve higher difficulties is spam. Aka increase the odds one of the one shot mechanics gets a player by surprise.

i said it often that i like to have less, but more dangerous enemies instead of blobs of them stacked into each other and deleted in seconds.

I’m inclined to agree. Whilst I enjoy the game immensely, the pacing seems broken at times. There’s no sense of an enemy working against you, just the game resorting to throwing crap at you until everyone goes down.

Enemies like trappers or tox-bombers shouldn’t be appearing three at once shoulder-to-shoulder, as an example.

I like this idea, but I don’t have enough friends that play at the same times (yet) and I don’t currently have the money for Vermintide 2. Also, I prefer the 40k universe!! It’s a good suggestion though

Yes! Literally this!

Not sure if it will do it again, but Vermintide 2 was free at one point. I would monitor it.

It’s $3 USD right now, so not bad. There’s DLC but the community is still active, double XP event going on right now. Playing with randoms is still pretty good!

Had I’ve been able to make my own character in Vermintide 2 then I would have left Darktide for ever because Vermintide 2 is the superior game with much better map design, enemy design, the slowed down combat and superior enviromental story telling.

what? the OCs in Vermintide are the best part of the game. I don’t like how they made them all so friendly with one another in VT2, but they’re still great.

Also V1 intro cinematic was peak, probably half of the V1 budget, lul

I have very similar feelings to the orginal post. My idea , not sure if good or bad, would be to veer towards bosses and mini bosses that got elborate attacks that you must learn how to handle , something similar to Space Marine 2 bosses. So instead of frantic multitasking the difficulty would be more in precision, remembering..

>patrol + mini patrol + Ambient Dreg ragers (32+) with an instant attack animation reset and unstaggerable (red)

I don’t play havoc but remove the bs stagger resistance and that sounds at the very least better than crusher spam.
