It better be free considering how expensive the cosmetics are. If all the stuff they add isn’t free, then there is no excuse for such prices.
Leaving that aside, for me it’s gonna be the genestealer faction. I think I would even prefer that over a new class.
But hey, it might as well be just a crappy event.
I’m telling you, I can see “Class Spotlight - Hive Ganger: Fent-Slinger” getting stealth dropped to the youtube account, and it’s just a trailer narrated by Ewan McGregor’s Renton for the new 40k x Trainspotting crossover.
“Making the mother of all omelettes here Jack. Can’t fret over every Catachan Coconut”
… or whatever it was Commisar Armstrong said
The teaser was interesting, but we’ll see what’s on the cards during the reveal. Hope for the best, expect the worst and all that.
Anyway, whatever it turns out to be, I’m looking forward to Skulls.
Its feasible for FS to have been developing the new upcoming content for the past 4 months
If you think about it with devs working up to 40 hours per week for four months, which totals 640 hours, that means that a whole new class can be developed in 80 days along with any other new content. That includes weapons, maps and missions as well. I don’t think many on the forum realize how much work is actually being put in.
As for Arbites class, we dont need that as we have Enforcer Cosmetics that gets rotated in the fomo shop
The Darktide teaser trailer for Warhammer Skulls obviously showed a POV of something that has a low to ground profile running up and pouncing a Poxwalker. At first it had me think of Battlemutt or Ratling. I think the neatest thing to happen is if we end up with Ratling as new class with a Battlemutt. If that happens to be a reality, its going to make players get excited to play
If it gets to be that, it would fill that niche where people were speculating a bounty hunter/hive ganger with a cyber mastiff, yet since Darktide has a more focal point on rejects sourced from the Astra Militarum to be Inquisitorial henchmen, a Ratling does seem to fit. Having a Battlemutt can be good to protect the Ratling, give more versatility to the class for fighting the karkers. I noticed more on Darktide that has taken pieces from Rogue Trader and Kill Team and incorporated into the game. That alone is thrilling to see.
As far as things go though for OP: its ok, dont have to be so angry, its a video game, have fun! New content is still good content!
I think that’s extremely optimistic and assumes every single person there is working on a new class, everything goes perfectly, and every single thing they have planned and every single method of implementation goes perfectly and the first draft ends up as the final product. I think there’s a very good reason the necromancer for VT2 took so long to make, and a lot of people underestimate the time involved in something like that. The testing alone probably took longer than that.
there’s a 7gb update which even by this game’s bloat is most likely not 1000 lua references to the good ol plasma gun and other such nonsense. so while I’m not even remotely going to bat for them anymore I will point out that something is coming, whether it will impress or not will be subjective. it will definitely be more than the hideous garbage of last year where we got to buy rogue trader/krieg stuff (nobody’s head exploded at the confusing user experience of 4 store pages from what I remember) and a kill counter that didn’t matter/discriminate headshot kills despite being called a ‘skull counter’ that went to a frame or a trinket or an insignia I don’t even remember the entire event was farcical. it will at least be a large improvement over that nothing.
I think so too, but it could also be that there’s been a few projects that have been 90% completed for over a year but waiting on voice actors. I would not assume the amount of work equates to just the months since the last update.
Personally I think we may be loosing smoke grenades and getting a dogo… Or 3 ratlings in some power armor.
And yet huffs the copium harder they did just do a hotfix today with:
Banter is more likely to play in Heresy and above difficulties.
For what purpose could this mean, but to make the voice lines of a new class they made more heard by the higher end players that will take it into Damnation by level 15?
breaths more of it in while he still can/before reality needs to set in on Thursday
I think whether or not they’re capable of pumping out a new class and whether or not such a thing could be coming for skulls are two pretty different questions.
Historically that is super far outside the scope of what gets put out for skulls (I’m including VT2 history in this).
It has been a while since we’ve seen any significant content so I wouldn’t put a proper event or something else larger than usual out of the question, but it seems unwise and fairly baseless to hope for more than that.
From what I have heard, FS full time staff numbers are very low so don’t get your hopes up too much. They seem to be very management heavy and developer poor…which is bizarre. I’d love to see a full position list.
It does make sense when you consider the volume of content.
I’m not sure they even have an internal art dept or QA dept at this stage, which is frankly insane if true.
Its speculation though so don’t hold my word as gospel.
Internal art department has probably been v. busy working on their new game in unreal engine since Darktide’s launch. Perhaps the workload is easing up on that now and they can come back to make a new Class/new enemy faction for DT.
I don’t know about internal QA, but they have external play testers, there’s like a private slack server and a bunch of the most dedicated DT players are in it and playtest new builds.
Holy jesus you are right, new class is giga copium - blizzard being good at some point level.
We are probably going to see a random spawn friendly hound that kills 2 groaners and promptly dies.
Interesting. I didn’t know another game was confirmed. Any details?
External playtesters are very different to a QA dept though. its an absolute sin for a dev company to not have an internal QA dept, especially on a ‘live’ multiplayer game. Play testers will never be a satisfactory replacement for the structure and accessibility of a QA dept and any dev boss who thinks otherwise is an egomaniac. Playtesters are just for broadstroke brute force or feedback.
Who knows, they might have a QA dept but I personally think it’s unlikely, given the bugs we see.
In any case they likely have too many managers/producers and not enough actual Dev/creative positions. Or running a skeleton crew due to another title in development. Either case is the same result. Not enough man power for DT! So be careful with hopium
No details aside from it being unreal engine and not stingray engine and that it’s not a warhammer game.
Idk about the internal QA, it might be a thing, but I will say that this game has some insanely dedicated players with like 4000 plus hours who know the game better than most of the devs do, so I wouldnt be surprised if they catch and report a lot of bugs an internal QA might miss.
Darktide’s issues with bugs is probably more an issue of the bug fix list being really really long and Fatshark has to prioritise what to work on with limited man hours
