Path of exile 2 is still 2 months away from coming out (in EA) and i’ve a hankering for some necromancy. So i was wondering whats the state of Sienna’s necro career in chaos wastes right now.
I tried playing the necro when they first released it on normal missions but didnt really feel necromancy enough, the skeletons being too weak and not noticeable enough to scratch the itch.
So do the chaos waste boons work well with sienna’s spooky calcium minions? Or no dice?
Necromancer’s minions are always going to be more a support tool rather than your main source of power. I like it that way, because it means you can’t just sit passively.
Necromancer is alright for wastes I guess. Best thing your skellies can do is meatshield or ignite things for you. I never found it particularly good. Maybe with a shitload of CDR you could have a bunch of dudes with the Army of Dead lv.30 talent but I doubt you could get that anywhere other than a weekly.

Necro is a beast no matter where you play it, although Chaos Wastes does have plenty of things to F you over if you use the 80% damage reduction talent, as you should. You get Khaine’s Fury “boon”? The talent is now useless. You get either the thirst or damage share Slaanesh curses? The talent is now useless. Still, even without the damage reduction, chopping down elites with infinite cleave and having 6 distractions and bone-shields never goes out of style.
Yeah but you’re talking more about a death battle wizard rather then a proper necromancer.
I dont care about cutting rats down with a scythe, i care about raising powerful minions and make them cut down the rats.
Well, Necro just doesn’t work that way, the best you can hope for is that you get one, or even both of your not-chosen level 30 talents as boons. It is very rare, though, and I never had all the three at the same time. I did have Barrow Blades-Dread Senechal and Barrow Blades-Army of the Dead combos however, and they were nice enough. I suppose Myrmidia’s Wildfire would also be excessively devastating, if paired with Barrow Blades.
