Shotgun and burst fire weapons; DMG and HitReg

Did a bit of testing, nothing too autistic, just running regular games with the above weapon types, killing stuff in the meatgrinder and comparing the numbers. This might just be a “feels” thing, but I’ve noticed that hitreg issues seem worse on these weapon types relative to automatics and semi-autos. Can anyone else confirm?

Is dmg for these weapons tracked on a per-round/pellet per shot basis? If so, it feels like hitreg issues are cosistently nerfing my dmg anywhere from 25 to 50% of my dmg per shot. Basically individual round/pellet hits per shot are also being affected by hitreg f*ckery.

Coincidence or skill issue?

Hmm, hit-reg seems to be an issue lately, but I’m not sure. I could try to test my shotgun (I’ve had some decent rolls) to provide additional data. Even if bolter is awesome, I feel It’s too much of a crutch (3 months ago I would be very cross with anyone saying that), lasgun is still annoying me and can’t hit something that’s left when Jack leaves town with headhunter autogun (mostly because my “lucky” autogun roll relies too much on weakspot hits).

I really wish @Reginald had 3 clones dedicated to different classes, so He could focus on each class individually. His data gathering is very solid.

If you play Zealot maybe He’s got something fun to compare?

Any input would be appreciated. Honestly, server issues feels like the game is trying to gaslight me more often than not, lol.

Are you playing vet? Which shotgun? You know what - paste print screen of your loadout.

Yes, I’m a vet. Weapons used are below, plus my feats. These two delete most threats pretty reliably when tested in the meat grinder, but in actual play i find myself having to mag dump specials and elites way too frequently.

The vraks headhunter is more of a casino, either I delete an entire room, or I’m stuck mag dumping into a melee elite/special half of an engagement, the disappointment is more consistent with the shotgun relatively speaking.

I’ve tried that Mark of headhunter - it’s for younger more agile crowd. I will try to test shotgun though. I’ll give my opinion around thursday. I should have 10-15 damnations behind me, by then.

Damage is tracked per-shot/projectile for all weapons/ So scattershot weapons like shotguns could, hypothetically, lose some projectiles I suppose. Noregs being what they are this would be more impactful to weapons that break their damage up into single shot or burst attacks when compared to full auto weapons considering each lost element of the shot is more impactful. Either way noregs blow.

I will try my best to test it, here is what I have for this mark of Shotgun:
(I’ve spent 300k of ordos and 3k of plasteel)

I’m looking forward to shotgun from 3rd picture, but not sure which perk to change and to what?
Also, all my instincts are wrong… I really wish I could focus on reload speed instead of range compensation for perk 2, however perk 5 seems great - I just wish I’ve had usable +3 stamina curio.

I’ve not played this last week, but if your time frame is beyond that then I’ve got extensive time with both kantrael and agripiina on both a zealot and the vet.

My honest opinion is that ADS doesn’t seem to have hitreg issues as far as I’ve noticed. Special shot ammo also seems to have clean hits - obvs they’re very noticeable if they don’t land.

Hip fire… the jury is out. On several occasions I’ve had to put 3-4 shots in to a grounded target. Even three rounds in to a standard (upright!) scab up close. I thought it might be aim under pressure but I’m not convinced. And I also wondered if ADS might he doing more damage, but a test in the grinder showed that’s not the case.

But that’s just my experience. I do get server lag occasionally with other aspects (eg weapon swap, sniper fire) but not really felt pained by it with a shotty.

I Appreciate the commitment. On stamina, for deadshot stamina regen is more important than having a +3 in my experience. In terms of perks, get anti maniac dmg, being able to drop flamers and mutants faster is pretty vital as a vet IMO. Otherwise just stack crit chance, surprisingly helpful, even if it doesn’t yield consistent dmg (only possible with blessings).

Want to trade connections? Lol. Out of curiosity, what ping do you get on average? I’m on a pretty beefy connection, but it’s broadband, and with a shitty ISP in the US (only alternative where I live).

This is the only MP game in my library that seems to demand that I have high speed fiber, and also that I ritualistically sacrifice a virgin to the chaos gods every gaming session in order to work smoothly, it’s infuriating.

The lawbringer is a different animal but for the Agripinaa the BiS is:

No Respite
Full Bore
+% Unarmored
+% Flak
so you can shoot shooters shootier. Or at least that’s my view on it. I’m not gods greatest min-maxer. I tend to build flexible all purpose weapons. So if you want to hit the spiciest breakpoint on reapers on the third sunday after dark on a saint’s day, don’t ask me.

After 2 Damnations (finished out of 3 attempts) and multiple psykarium tests, I am forced to say…
I karking hate this Mark of shotgun.
It made me frustrated, sweaty and doubting if Emperor even loves me. Bringing it to Damnation High Int would be suicidal (at least for me).

I’ve tried to fire special round to stagger bigger targets and then capitalize on blessing (20% dmg corelating to target stagger).
I’ve tried to make a single-shot rifle out of it and compensate reload time with feats. -20% damage for targets far away hurts, losing crit% bonus also hurt. Pumping more rounds faster down range was not worth it. Also I think special action does not benefit from % reload speed feats.

IMO (Feth being humble) Agripina Mk. VII is widely inconsistent. I’m starting to think there is actually problem with shotgun not hit registration. I have no clue how many pellets are hitting even if the target is standing in front of me.
Other problem: ammo consumption and return form Vet feat – ONE SHELL?! (that is the frustrating part) This gun does not perform well in all areas that I hoped It would…

  • Crow control? Good joke. (I was hoping against hope here, you know – it’s a shotgun)
  • Counter-ranged units / shooter hunter? Too slow with special, too inconsistent in reaching breaking points with normal ammo.
  • Anti-Carapace? Bad joke. Special for stagger and mag dump. “F” and mag dump again. 26 shots to kill a Crusher if you’re lucky (and other enemies will not wait in line for ya)
  • Special/Elite hunter? Well here it shines. Maybe not in case of all disablers (A mutant threw me 3 times before I’ve managed to kill it by mag dumping in his back - CQC scenario) but trappers are done with one special (headshot or lucky body shot, also high stagger allows to finish her in melee without posing a big risk after one plain shot). Flamers go down smoothly (headshot). Hounds? HAHA! Down ya karker (1 special / 2-3 standard, but It might be 25% dmg on infected – I think this is a first weapon that did not cause me problems with engaging them on short-mid distance). Both gunners? Swiss cheese with ease. Same with snipers. There is small problem with killing Maulers, when line of 3 approaches It’s better to swich to melee. Ragers… Eeeeh. Could be better. It’s not bad. Adequate let’s say.

Anyway, get yourself a wheelbarrow for ye balls, because I cannot see how you can handle this gun well in Damnation especially with Hi-INT or Emperor forbid Hi-Int STG.

PS: Fell free to “Skill issue” me, you might be right. This gun is not made for my chosen playstyles.

Full bore blessing is probably the deal breaker here, tried things out with your set up in the meatgrinder and had the same experience. With full bore I get more consistent dmg in the meatgrinder, but in previous games it underperforms pretty badly even with it. On stagger, technically all hits generate some degree of stagger, so follow up shots should theoretically get some of the bonus even without strikes with the special round. But I agree that shotguns are underwhelming either way, I’m just not sure if its the weapon’s stats or hitreg.
