Hi Fatshark.
I just want to inform you that servers are abysmal again. I don’t know how your network works and why some times feel like LAN play and others feel like I’m trying to connect to some server in north-East Siberia (from Denmark) but it’s often ruining the experience.
It’s not quite clear if this is because of syncing issues with some players just making it feel worse, or the game picks different servers within the region I play depending on who else I am paired up with. And I see no way of troubleshooting what could possibly explain it since the game gives literally zero information anywhere about what specific server I am connected to, where the people I’m teamed up with are from, or anything.
It’s so bad I can’t use frame generation tech because it simply magnifies the problem due to the added latency, and I frequently also can’t record gameplay because this, too, adds artificial latency.
Further still, it’s clear the in-game physics are partially dependent on both latency and FPS. When latency is bad (and it’s bad in most games), even walking up stairs can get you stuck in terrain. A particularly noticeable place is the last event on Archivum Sycorax where you come out of an airlock to the final area, and there’s two parallel sets of stairs leading up.
When latency is bad, simply sprinting up these stairs will get you stuck in terrain where the final step connects to the checkered marble floor. That implies your game has an issue with collision detection near edges of architecture/blocks/brushes or whatever level-architecture is called in your engine.
Presently this consistently bad latency is the main source of frustration in the game, followed by it’s abysmal fps optimization. But, you know, I can’t use frame generation tech because latency is already so bad it will get me killed, and/or stuck in terrain first and then killed.
