Scrap the FOMO store

Please, scrap the FOMO store

NOW

It doesn’t matter what analytics corporate might be looking at - the comparison is wrong and disingenuous. You are making less money by having only a small selection of your cosmetics available at any given time. This is not an effective way to sell cosmetics.

And to make matters worse - oh boy, how bad some of the skins are. They look bad and I would never buy them - wouldn’t even care about grinding a penance for them. Week after week…

Some though, that aren’t available - I would’ve already bought, had they been available. Probably 100h of playtime ago. Fatshark is missing out because geniuses at middle management I guess and so are the players with money left over for discretionary spending.

Yah it would be interesting to see their metrics for keeping manufactured scarcity as their primary sales tactic.

I’m still waiting for a single psycher outfit that never returned.

It not returning has never made me buy something else instead.

It’s almost as if allowing us access to the full catalogue would net them more profits…

Adding to the insane number of complaints in the Book about this stupid store.

The leopard print oggy trousers alone would keep them afloat for the next 3 years :joy:

I completely stopped buying cosmetics, I hate FOMO stores, on the other hand in Vermintide, I have bought every single cosmetic item they released throughout the years, better quality sets (no recolors), more reasonably priced, and just overall feels good to buy and use.

Mom, pick me up, someone is trying to make more then 3 tabs visible at the same time, I am scared.

any evidence to back that up? because all ive seen points counter ><

Does this store really count as FOMO? Aren’t things there for like 3 weeks each time they rotate in?

i dont see many countdowns or limited run events only selling X copies.

Key elements that make FOMO sales work copy pasta inc from marketing thingy.

Scarcity

Creating a perception that a product or offer is in short supply or only available for a limited time makes it seem more valuable and increases desire

Urgency

Time-sensitive elements, such as countdown timers or flash sales, create pressure to buy quickly before the opportunity disappears.

Social Proof

Demonstrating that others are buying, attending, or enjoying something (e.g., “Only 2 left in stock” or showing a busy event) creates a sense of social validation and encourages participation

Exclusivity

Presenting offers as special or invitation-only can make consumers feel like they are part of an elite group, increasing their desire to participate.

Emotional Triggers:

Marketers tap into innate human desires for inclusion and the anxiety of being left behind to drive quick decisions and impulsive purchases.

/shrug seems like a reach to me. more likely just a normal keep the choices down to sell more type of thing

When is that ever ‘normal’?

“Each time". You make it sound like some of them actually return. This faux scarcity is literal fomo. Fear of an item never returning, this missing out on it forever.

When you have so little respect for your customers that you think giving them more choices will hurt their teeny weeny brains and even tell them as much.

Slowmo is still fomo

This 100%. Faux scarcity is manipulative, decreases consumer trust, increases churn and decreases the potential LTV (life-time value) of the consumer.

It’s short sighted and should be replaced by a full catalog with proper rotating discounts to create that desired sense of urgency. New players would have the opportunity to buy cosmetics they otherwise wouldn’t be able to, and at the rate Darktide bleeds regular players between major updates FS is just missing out on so many potential sales by sticking with this limited store model.

If FS changed it to a full catalog and made the marketing director who signed off on FOMO apologize for insulting me (the customer) I would spouting-whale-emoji-clipart-md-1197549391all over myself.

they do fomo despite everyone hating it because it works buddy

FOMO can still be achieved with limited time discounts. This argument is tiresome

the reason why i’m so against this shop model is that i feel being treated like a fool. the only way to show them this doesn’t work is by voting with the wallet, but good luck convincing the whales. so we get this dumb situation where fatshark wants to sell and we want to buy, but neither can.

they do that in vt2 and decided not to do it in dt, i wonder why

Yeah, I check the store regularly, because it’s become an obsession of mine; “Will they ever have a tac axe skin?” I wouldn’t even buy it because it’ll probably just be a slight recolor with some leather strapping or something. But it’s the point; imagine if you had a most-used, favorite weapon you really just CAN’T even spend money to make it look cooler?

I mean, at least the weapon skins should have a lot more available, you’d think logically.

I’ve been waiting well over a year, probably close to 2, for a psycher outfit to return. It hasn’t and it’s absence hasn’t made me want anything else. I want to give FS my money and they simply won’t let me. Such a stupid sales model.
