I love numbercrunching to a point where it becomes annoying, ask anyone. The thing is, extreme outliers such as the inferno or DS doesn’t require, nor do they reward minmaxing.
When the question becomes whether I overkill everything by 3x or 3.1x, the answer is, who the fk cares. Extreme outliers will also hold balancing and in some cases, entire classes hostage, both of which are very unhealthy for the longetivity of a game.
All they have to do is “nerf the Infinite cleave and put a max limit on it”, problem solved. But I guess they don’t have the time and resources to do anything besides “making new classes”
You don’t need to nerf anything, you just need to bring other weapons up to tier of the others. That is the problem. They need to make all the rest of the weapons better. Then people will use other things. They need to update the staves and produce more of them.
Smite was used because it was easy to use and able to take down trash mobs, just like purg staff is suppose to do. It is suppose to stagger, just not those tough elite units.
Staves are not infinite ammo. They have a down side, which suffer perril of the warp. So, it is not infinite. The inferno effects low tier mobs with stagger, not high teir last time I checked.
To upgrade heavy sword. You just up some of the numbers, simple.
Well, balance it out, but there have been too many nerfs on the weapons we already have, which is why they have to keep on changing the numbers of their attack and so on. Just stop nerfing and they will not have to buff them later.
If something truly needs a nerf, nerft it, but the inferno staff does not need a nerf. It is working as intended. Plus, there are onl 4 staves in the game, while there are how many guns? No, the staves are no infinite ammo because they have perril. Got to cool that down or you will explode.
I understand everyone will have their own threshold on what is “too many” but I do not think there have been very many nerfs when you look at the weapon balance changes in totality.
You have a mod, right that helps tone down perrils and you have what talent that helps suppress it? Like I stated, haven’t played for a while. Not everyone is an elite player like you. Elite is saying you far better than the average player, like me.
BTW, got a little dizzy with that movement of your’s.
Peril is literally a replenishable source of buffs to Psyker and, with the right Talents, can be turned into an infinite Toughness farm. It doesn’t take anywhere near long enough to manually Quell for Peril to be an actually noticeable downside mechanic on its own merit.
For every 1 nerf we get on anything, we get 5 buffs on other things
Seriously, check the patch notes from all balance updates and you’ll notice this trend
Well, at least you’re on board with the idea of nerfing things, now we gotta convince You that Inferno staff is one of them
Inferno staff is working as intended, that is undeniable truth, the issue is that the intention is just too powerful in itself
Peril management is not hard aboard decent psykers, and there are abilities and talents that allow you to bypass it completely (Venting Shriek, Warp Unbound, and that keystone subnode that geerates less peril)
The issue with Inferno staff is that it’s a weapon that gets better the more enemies are on screen, since it has no cleave limit, this makes it nearly impossible to create hard scenarios since all the team needs to do is hold a frontline and every enemy will die at nearly the same time because of the Inferno Psyker stacking soulblaze on everything
The Best solution is finding a way to make sure inferno has a limit we can play around and make sure it doesn’t scale the more enemies are on screen
Ideas like “soulblaze generation is slower the more enemies are hit” could do wonders
Are those all those changes nerfs? I see weapons and their variants. That is a lot of changes to those weapons. Too much if you ask me. So, I guess it comes down to opinion one holds.
Not infinite if you have some gimick that makes you stop and reload like perril.
That is my point. It does not stagger what it is not made to do, so it is working as intended. Maybe they can dull it down to those that have a certain armor spec, which I would agree with.
When it comes to certain mobs, but for elites is the whole point of that heavy two-handed sword.
