Not everything needs to be Power Sword MK 6 and expecting a weapon without perfect strike to cleave just as well as that weapon is a bit absurd in the current game. Scab Ragers have carapace armor on their bodies now, after all; that shuts down most cleaves. I’ve been goofing around with Relic Blade MK X and it’s pretty fun. I feel much less vulnerable with it than I do other slow weapons. Nothing special with the perks, not much effort on my part to max breakpoints, Wrath and Heatsink blessings.
Even if crutchsword mk6 didn’t exist, relic blade is still mid at best.
When it comes to ragers “relic blade” mkX powered horizontal heavy has the same cleave(hits 3) on powered heavy as devil’s claw(also hits 3) horizontal heavy. It’s worse when unpowered(hits 2).
For how slow it is(at best it’s 0.02+ sprintspeed at 80% mobility), how hard it hits and how much it cleaves is not justified.
If it hit harder with its already much larger number of powered swings than any current PS and had better cleave out of the box with its already seemingly better reach on certain attacks it’d be disgustingly OP. My friends and I took it to a few auric maelstroms today and were freaking out about how great it was; one of the most vocal ones about it has hated using the vet power swords for over a year because they’re clunky but took to this weapon very readily. IMO it’s one of the best feeling newer weapons I’ve encountered in a long time, perhaps even more enjoyable than the Karsolas or Branx. The numbers don’t have to be dramatically superior when the weapon itself is so versatile IMO.
Vet mk6 crutchsword can activate while blocking which automatically cancels the animation, it’s not clunky at all compared to a lengthy overheat if you don’t turn it off.
I suspect mk6 crutchsword has faster kill time for crushers(2shot if not 1 on a crit) than zealot 2h sword even with activation time added.
When activated, horizontal heavy from mkX 2h sword I tested cleaves 2 cultist ragers, hits the 3rd, that’s how mid(actually that’s bad, because of how slow it is) the cleave is. When not activated it cleaves through 1 and hits the 2nd. That’s mk7 chainaxe level of cleave rofl. A dueling sword light attack can cleave through 1 rager and hit the 2nd as well, and in that case that’s on par with your little 2h sword heavy attack.
You can’t even activate Rampage when sword is unpowered without some kind of bonus cleave(also explains why it has no savage sweep). LOL
Forget about not needing numbers to be dramatically superior, many are inferior.
Karsolas actually has a positive sprint modifier and cleaves way more(hjts 5 cultist ragers; duh it’s an ogryn weapon).
Regardless of how it shapes up verses other weapons, people have already been using the Relic Blade on high level content. Its clearly capable of high end play.
People have done auric maelstrom with grey weapons and no skill tree.
Normal humans and not true solo titans have ALSO used the Relic Blade on high difficulty stuff. Your wrong.
I also love how you accuse me of putting words in your mouth in another of youre threads telling me that Im saying Your saying that you “Hate the weapon” when your right here, making a thread about how much the weapon sucks in youre opinion! ![]()
Couldnt make it up!
But everything needs to be balanced…
It really does. You work a lot harder to use its overcomplicated patterns, and all that work doesn’t even approach the effectiveness of other weapons. Not even the best weapons, either.
Hard coping about what? That you said opposite things? And that has anything to do with the swords how?
I think your wrong. There is no cope. Im loving it
(edit:the sword, that is) I dont get what youre problem is but your welcome to youre feeling’s. Like I said, it seems like your not liking the sword and thats ok. I didnt say that your hating it! That makes me sound like Im saying your extreme! …and Im not.
I’ll chip in I really notice the extra reach. I can smack a rager without fear of retaliation.
hard coping to avoid admitting you’re wrong.
You don’t think much. It’s “you’re” btw.
Oh we all know what you’re loving and it’s not the sword.
I like the look and most of the moves of the sword, the performance(particularly the amount of cleave) does not match the look. You literally just made a comment essentially telling me I hate it just because I made a thread that highlights the issue with the weapon.
Im not wrong about liking it or about people using it in endgame content.
Truly I am confused. Is this a sexual innuendo? If it is Im all for it.

No, you said that. Youre thread is called “Relic Blade kinda sucks” which made me say youre dont like it.
Your not a victim, calm down!
Huh?
What?
Can you answer a direct question without obfuscation? Tell me exactly what you meant saying:
I would appreciate it as Im a bit lost and would like to know what you mean.
Very true and Im sorry, it really just looked to me like you dont like it, but I must be mistaken (hate is a strong word btw).
Again, Im struggling to understand what you are aiming for. I feel like Im in a playground and you pulled an uno reverse card out ![]()
I love the Relic Blade, so do loads of other people. Im about to go enjoy it more
. Have a nice day @ComradeHX
I’ll give you a few days to catch up.
That is direct. No obfuscation there.
I’ll give you a few days to catch up.
Good on you to admit that, now stop overreacting to someone pointing out parts of game that should be improved.
I don’t have to aim for anything and you’ll still act like you got shot.

Again, it’s okay to love a mid weapon. If you love it you would want it to be better.
I love that we still have mechanics for bonks on the player to deactivate power/chain weapons… I especially love that the Relic Blade with the main thing being “it stays active for more than one hit so it can be a mediocre version of the Power Sword” also gets deactivated upon bonks… lol
Sooo I have been trying out and playing with the Relic since its release.
I dont fully agree with this. I love the more complicated attack paterns.
I mean… I play Charge Blade in Monster Hunter. THIS IS NOTHING.
I love that you can execute a block when activating during a sweep. Feels really good.
It definitly took a while to get used to the weapon fights very differently its not a mindless slashy weapen and definitly requires more skill. But after a bit of practice i feel like i got the hang of it. I try to cover up the mobility issue by going in to the Judgement build a bit. The weapon works really well with dodging and counter attacking from block.
It required some practice but i managed to get the hang of it.
Tho I do agree with one thing, i think the Movementspeed and Cleave definitly got overtuned a bit to the point where it makes it feel like it inhibits the weapon. Atm i run it with Energy Transfer and energy Leakage blessings and then weave it in and out of activations and with that block attacks. I use the Mk X i personally prefer that weapon over the Mk II. Tho the Mk II is alot easier to use. But with skill the Mk X is just the better performing out of the two for me. The Light 3 Jab is very pleasant.
It aint made for Crushers but it will pretty much deal with anything else!
And tbh 3shotting a crusher aint bad when you are used to a Devil Claw xD
BTW, Energy Transfer is pretty bad. It’s 20% of the passive heat generation and does not reduce generation from attacks. Proccing it twice in a row on CD extends powered state by one second point only.
After spending some more time with the Relic Blade it’s definitely one of the few weapons with such severe tuning that it just feels like playing a regular auric on Havoc, when it comes to fighting stuff in melee. The only other one making melee feel that way for me is the dueling sword. I wouldn’t say it’s OP though, more like finetuned for the numbers to be good on Havoc still (which won’t make much of a diff on regular games since it’s overkill)
Are you sure?
I presume the same is for Cranial Grounding?
It definitly feels going up way slower when testing it even when all out attacking.
Then perhaps Overload or Heatsink is the better one to reduce the heat.
Tho the Overload explosion is dogshit, basicly just a gust of wind that blows enemies a bit away.
Then again those 2 might get fixed. Cus if it only reduces the build up which isnt that noticable to begin with that kinda sucks.
