Regarding DLC classes and longevity

the majority of the tree of arbites was made by playtesters

and there was a talent being pushed by a playtester, which was about the gas

devs didn’t even want to put it, almost as if they were arguing, but they ended up leaving that talent in, when it’s just a too way strong as talent, specifically made for havoc / tox gas condition as its best usage, and i agree when epic coke said they should just dealt with the tox bombers instead of making one talent to counter them.

sounds made up to me unless fatshark confirms

yea so the playtesters chosen by fatshark themselves btw are completely lying and spreading misinformation on the internet just for fun

plus kinda bold saying “unless fatshark confirms” as if they were actively talking with community in the first place

i didnt know they’re the chosen ones, i will put them on a pedestal from now on
FATSHARK chose them so they can’t speak inconsequential falsehoods like that

also for what it’s worth, i’m more saying you are making it up, i never saw a playtester claim this. or is there a source?

Answer is simple

Because veteran feels the closest to your average FPS experience

The vast vast majority of players in Darktide don’t care much about getting deep into the “Tide” experience

Thus DLC classes need to appeal to the majority, and that tends to be close to what veteran offers

Shooting and bring versatile

i would love to know who these competent “playtesters” are so i can apply, some things are being released into the game that takes regular players 2 minutes to realize and say “yo guys this thing is a problem” (recently: vanguards, emitter, etc)

Its the same kind of playtesters any other game has, most notably total war warhammer. Bootlickers, if you are not constantly kissing the devs/managers a$$es they will kick you out and find someone that does.
So it becomes an echo chamber.

Then there is another subcategory of that where the devs wouldnt mind in the slightest to be pounded with criticism, but the people that are in the playtester/creator programs are so afraid of losing their privilege that they become a complete “yes-man”.

Saw this happen when watching the Skitarii pre-release content creator streams.

None of them discussed whether a thing was too strong or not, or if something could use some changes/tuning.

The only thing they talked about was how cool and awesome stuff were while it was very noticeable that certain things were too good just by looking at them as a viewer.

I’m not saying that Skitarii isn’t cool, but if we cannot talk about problematic talents, abilities and interactions before the release of a class then we have a big problem - Dogxplosion, Perma Ranged Scum, Needle Gun, Tox Melee Scum.

I had a similar experience during a pre-release stream about the expeditions. Everything that was said felt like a nonstop infomercial and had no real substance.

But what can you expect from a developer who won’t even answer the simplest questions?

It’s true. For all of the DLC classes, they just feel lacking in that regard…

They really need some havoc outfits at bare minimum

well thats how supplements are sold for decades.

truthful “advertisement” would be “no amount of powder is gonna get you stickboy to not look like :poop: , roid up or shut up”

not that its ever going to happen, we see buff dudes swearing by amino acids :squinting_face_with_tongue:

same with dlc classes, imagine an honest “gid gud scrub and stop using crutches” on a stream :joy:

but hey, the shiny sells the car, not the drivers abilities.

It’s a matter of perspective.

But I do agree that DLC classes deserves more cosmetics and weapons. At the same time, I’d like to see new weapons even for OG classes.

I know, but I don’t like how playtesters and content creators are used to sell the game when their role should be to help Fatshark improve it with critique and feedback.

And while I understand that Fatshark saves money by not having to spend a lot of money on expensive advertising and that many players are already watching Twitch, glazing the game in order to maintain your partnership with Fatshark does not make the game better!

WE NEED A PTR SERVER!

Take a look at all the Skitarii bugs.

All of them should have been fixed before release and were probably also pointed out (I hope) by the playtesters.

It’s OBVIOUS issues every time new content is adding.

We are not talking about weird bugs that happen on very specific interactions that are difficult to reproduce here, but long lasting issues that is noticeable from the get-go.
