when does it apply its damage?
over time or on “release”
whats best usage, LMB or charging up RMB and release?
somehow it’s unclear to me and english not my motherlanguage.
It’s Crowd Control ability to stun-lock your enemies, dealing very small damage in the process.
LMB is good only if you need to stun-lock a single opponent quickly.
In any other situation, RMB works best.

thanks, found an old thread also and what people suggested in it is what i thought it does already, but it doesnt 
Also, it stun-locks any enemy but Monstrosities and Mutants (Surge Staff can stun-lock Mutants though, and is more oriented on damage dealing since patch13).
+if you release Smite attack before getting maximum peril, it will push all affected enemies

For things like that you have Meatgrinder where you have all non boss enemies standing still and respawning on kill so you can try anything you want on them. And it will also show you damage inflicted: white is normal damage, orange is weakspot and yellow is crit.
