We know their obvious answer…
From Fatshark to our fans:
A ratio of about 1:10 including many multiples from an even smaller number of posters. I don’t think that you can derive any meaningful conclusions from that.
They already did so 30 months ago. I’d guess that it’s still valid as long as they don’t post an update.
And we have to wait how many centuries to get an answer?
Because the 30 months ago announcement is NOT an answer.
Our questions are:
As you may have answers, please answer it.
We simply ask that they update their stance…
First they said that they would release the solo game mode next month, so in december 2022.
Then, 30 months ago, they told us this is not their priority actually.
And so?
They never said that they would not delivered what they promised. And we don’t even know if they will release it…
Fatshark communication at its best.
*David Attenborough Voice*
“Observe, if you will, a most unusual specimen: a player so thoroughly shaped by an environment of muddled communication that their sense of time itself appears… distorted. Here, in this rare behavioral display, the individual struggles to reconcile the span of thirty months, seemingly unaware that it stretches back a full two and a half years to late October of 2023, a mere eleven months beyond the original announcement. Such disorientation, while fascinating from a distance, offers a rather sobering glimpse into the effects of prolonged informational neglect. A curious… if somewhat disheartening, sight.”
I was browsing mods and saw this new solo play mod update. Adds airstrikes and mini button game like Helldivers 2.
Solo Play - Stratagems DLC at Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Nexus - Mods and community
W40K Darktide Mod Showcase: Solo Play Stratagems DLC

Modders doing more work than Fatshark at this point. Got that Bethesda syndrome.
Bethesda: “So, we told our teams to stop working so hard fixing bugs, making polished animations, or meaningful UI/UX, our players will do that for them, just focus on the bare minimum and write a great story! Or don’t, your modders can fix that too!”
EA, Blizzard, Fatshark, Ubisoft, etc.:

And so, it obviously still isn’t their priority, hence there would be a solo mode, but they probably didn’t abandon it alltogether. What should they say then other repeat their statement from Oct, 2023?
The answer to both of your questions may very well be “we don’t know”. How understanding would those who rage about broken promises mantra-like for years react, you think, even if that’s just the plain truth?
Fatshark communication at its best.
Seeing all the worst communication here, on Steam and on Reddit from a very vocal part of their playerbase that just can’t accept that priorities and intends may change over time, I really can’t blame them to keep any statements that could (and very probably would) be held against them by the letter to the absolute minimum.
As you may have answers, please answer it.
My answer or rather advice is to just let it be, wait and see, and play other single player games in the meantime, instead of complaining against the same wall again and again. Focus on things that bring you fun rather than anger, and try to make peace with the many uncertainties in this world. It’s way more relaxing in my experience.
This cannot be “we don’t know”. Again 54 months, enough to produce such features of a game… there are studios that develop entire games during such period of time.
And also, they said in October 2022 that solo would be released in December 2022.
No… I will continue what we do every days. That’s the only thing that has results with Fatshark. That’s TOTALLY dumb, but you have to be vocal and close to annoying to get a simple answer.
I don’t understand how a company can be so stupid.
I work in a customer facing position at my company, and they’ll reach out and ask me questions, a recent example is when a customer asked me why they received a Receiving Report with no Invoice since they need the invoice to pay us. Now, I responded and said something like “Thank you for reaching out, I’ll find out what happened and get that invoice to you as soon as possible” now, let’s get into “what if!” mode. What if it’s taken me 2 weeks and I still don’t have an invoice for them?
Should my customer A) reach out to follow up, or B) Stay quiet since I could just repeat the same thing as last time?
That’s right, they should go with B.
Now it’s been 3 months. A or B?
Well, B obviously, no point in asking again when things probably haven’t changed.
Now it’s been 12 months. No point, B again. Asking again would just lead to anger, they should just focus on other programs
At 30 months? Obviously the answer is probably still the same or they would have said otherwise, best to go with B again.
Wow, you sure are right, Zaar. I should have done a “what if analysis” like this years ago and never tried to hold Fatshark accountable for anything they ever said ever
Minor corrections:
The core of your post is still the same, just wanted to reduce any “nuh uh!” responses you may get.
And it was November 18th 2022 when they announced solo game mode for December 2022.
The 31 months later message has given NO answer. Not even 1 information. We never know if they had bugs, problems or if they (and this is what I think) stopped the development.
So my stance is correct minus one month. We wait for 41 months for some news (so since December 2022)
Yeah people miss the forest for the trees here.
Of course we know Fatshark has given up on actually making Solo Mode. What we want is an explanation for why we went from ‘final testing and will be out in a few weeks’ to ‘not a priority and not being worked on’.
If you’re going to toss an entire game mode, the very least we’re owed is an explanation.
Why would we abandon the only strategy that has gotten results? Shall we reminisce on crafting and the amount of complaining that went on before it was finally addressed? Of course we don’t have the same numbers as that issue but I definitely think complaining repeatedly has a better success chance than just quietly hoping they eventually get around to it.
How about making it an actual statement in an official annocement rather than a off-hand comment in a “random” thread on the forums?
I’m starting to believe that it would have been an unplayable experience on consoles so they just said: “Well damn, guess nobody should have it then”. Not throwing shade at console players though. Curious if this game in the future will ever get preserved or will be banished to the shadow realm for nobody to enjoy.
How and why?
The resources needed for a solo game are negligible even if they would let the local machine handle the game. In fact, the game generates the enemies around you, and that’s all that your CPU will have to manage.
I begin to think something really worse. I wonder if it was not a demand from Microsoft to forbid console players to play this game without a subscription…
Yes I hate Microsoft and the reason why my Xbox serie X will be replaced this month by a bazzite “console”.
With the solo mod I could feel a dip in performance when there were more enemies on the screen. Servers generally do all the calculations (Damages, AI director calls, player and enemy positions etc) and send that back to all the clients ready for digestion. Your system having to do those calculations does hurt your fps. I haven’t done a benchmark myself but I’ve felt it.
As for subscriptions. Didn’t own a console so I don’t know how that works but you still need to connect to the fs backend to get to the main menu. Same for VT2 even if the game can be played solo or p2p. You need internet. Not sure how a subscription would prevent a choice to play a game that locally hosted and requires back end sync to store that progress like VT2.
Thanks for the report.
Must admit that I play in 4k, so the CPU has close to no impact on FPS (i have a RTX5080 that permits tghat even on Linux).
And I have a last gen CPU (intel 265K).
So it seems I have totally missed that.
Thanks for correcting me with facts
I have an unstable pc scraping 60fps (70ish on map start idle but limit is to 60 with 2x framegen 120fps). When things get hectic I go to 45fps and with solo I sometimes go to 30+ ish fps as far as I remember with all the compounding factors. I just did Auric games on solo with better bots mod. Felt like public havoc was doing better.
But I do think someone else should have a proper benchmark for it. I’m just going off feels and could be wrong
Edit: I haven’t looked into the code for the solo mod but it could be that there are lua scrips making it a bit slower. But I doubt that a little. it’s probably using the same methods to simulate it as the Tankered Bastion prologue mission
