Put solo in the game Devs. You’re gonna get more sales like do you not want more money?

It shouldn’t be, but they still haven’t put in hub shortcut keys either even though the framework for it does exist under the hood.

Firstly thanks for making an account and joining in on the thread. The more voices on this issue the better.

And yeah that hits close to home for me. The shorter my window for gaming (my partner, job, and general house maintenance takes up 95% of my life) the less I want to pin my enjoyment on the benevolence of randos in quick play.

Solo mode would be revolutionary for my ability to play this game in my limited free time on my own terms. Like at this point it would probably quintuple my weekly hours for this game.

I find the whole thing incredibly bizarre: they were in the “final stages” of what, transplanting and deploying an existing architecture to a new game and they pulled the plug last minute…
I agree there’s something going on, and we may never know what the underlying reason was/is for one of the most requested features not being released. or, it gets released and like V2 versus mode, it’s too little too late.

I could develop, but I will keep it short

Answer is… No

Fartshark adding solo to the game because one dude kept reviewing all their DLCs negatively is such a funny idea I actually hope it happens now

One cannot do anything… but several can change things

See crafting.

I am sorry to say it, but when you ask nicely news, they don’t care. Fatshark reacts ONLY if there is a move that federates players.
This is what made them moving on crafting…

I hate to have to go for this and suggesting this… But… do you see any news? do you see them answering us?

True Solo would be great. Offline as no internet, i.e. you could be offline in steam and still load in.

I want to put positive spin on this:

  • For people with limited bandwidth in certain global regions that can’t experience fluid latency as others.

  • Test builds in real scenarios of missions which have chokepoints, stairs, ledges as opposed to wide kite arena training ground. How many players join quickplay “Just testing build”. Few mins later, leave because the build wasn’t to their liking.

  • You’ll feel you truly own the game with no server uptime dependency forever. Well depending on OS compatibility in future. People in thousands still play 20 year old games on steam like total war Medieval 2. It will feel like a GOG owned game.

  • Solo mods require dependency of one or few individuals to maintain to ensure working through game updates. They may not maintain indefinitely. Solo mod doesn’t let you free craft, just whatever your inventory is from online achieved.

  • Separate Offline vs Online character progression. So if someone wants to edit offline to give advantage i.e. resources, all weapons etc. Then it’s just offline.

  • Offline free crafting before deciding to commit resources towards online build and not waste plasteel. Probably many out there dumped resources into optimised weapon, then turned out to not be their thing and shelved into inventory.

  • You really do need thick skin to play this game with randoms. So understandable may be times you don’t want to play with others.

Offline free nothing, if offline ever happens you can bet the game will force sync up with cloud the moment you go online.

This notion is not worth entertaining in the slightest and should be abandoned as a dead end

One day European Union may one day enforce it.

Stop Destroying Videogames is validated by European Commission on January 26th of this year 2026.

Sweden is part of the European Union… so I still think it is worth them thinking of it… before someone chooses to enforce it upon them. Solo game mode, would be a perfect answer regarding this ICE.

yeah… there still territories outside of the USA… and we can decide ourselves what we want enforcing - and yes Sweden is really part of European Union
Maybe this, representing 450 millions citizens, is enough… and sure it is more than just 1 guy…

As a European Citizen, I supported this initiative…

Reading this fantasy, I’m starting to realize why there’s no single-player mode: because what you’re essentially describing is a full-fledged new game, not just the ability to launch a private match by yourself

Then why someone succeeded to create a solo mod (with bugs) and someone else succeeded to create a mod that allow you to use your chars as bots… ?

You realize nothing… you try to find explanations when… all you do is guessing without any clue.
Best explanation is… they have run into a technical problem and it was not their priority. And they believe that it is not worth to fulfill this promise in term of money they could get from it.
Sure, coming with such explanation is not glorious… it is like saying to someone waiting it… “we don’t care of what we promised you before you bought our game”

I don’t think the resources issue is a big deal. The economy is already quite broken – just by playing for a bit you have all the resources you need. If someone earned 999,999,999 plasteel offline, chances are nobody would even notice. Bad and ‘rich’ is still just bad…

If you could earn Acquilas, I could see the ‘bottom line’ argument. But you can’t, so imo it’s a non-issue.

Bingo. No one here wants to accept it, but the way the game is currently is not a fun single player experience for the VAST majority of people who do not already own the game and know how to play it inside and out.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done to make the game fun as a single player experience and there’s no way that will be cost effective. Pretending like there’s basically zero work and it’s gonna generate a ton of sales is just disingenuous.

Yeah personally I think this is the real reason it’s been put on hold indefinitely, not server costs or anything like that.

That was kinda the point I was trying to make with my earlier post about the talent tree rework complicating the issue of solo mode.

There’s really no denying that a lot of the updates to the game have made a solo mode vastly more complicated. More game modes with more mechanics the bots need to interact with to be functional. More AI logic needed for different blitz use and talent mechanics.

All that said though allowing 1 player private games as an interim band-aid I struggle to find genuine issue with. At least those who are familiar with the game could get some use out of it for now, and I can’t see how that would be labour intensive to implement.

Also while I agree it’s going to be hard to implement an actual good solo mode, they do have somewhat of an obligation at this point to do it at least eventually.

I must respectfully disagree with you here.

A lot of work? probably not. But absolutely some work.
Work they promised to do.
regardless, others have made it work in their spare time. The mods are not perfect, but damn near perfect enough and more than enough as proof of concept that it is more than doable.

The mods also show that it is fun as a single player experience. Especially for those who are into that concept.
could it be better? Absolutely. It might even become enjoyable for everyone if they put some time and effort into the project. Maybe even for those that aren’t so into it now.

But it doesn’t need to be a huge, costly project. First step would be to allow a single player to run missions with only bots.
That will be plenty for a long while.
then, later on, they can add more stuff to the single player experience.
But truly, just allowing it to be done is more than enough.
I’ll take it, warts and all!
I don’t need it to be perfect. I just need it to be and I think more than a few people agree with me on that point.

[There are dozens of us! Dozens!]

bottom line is, I do think it requires -some- work, but not a lot. and I DO believe it will generate sales. Perhaps not massive sales, as there’s a lot of “damage” to be undone. But it would be a start.
I doubt most of us are so lost in the sauce that we think this will be a miraculous thing…

Anyway… While I disagree with the broad strokes of your post, I do think it is a good reminder that is worth to keep in mind; that we should not expect too much and we should acknowledge the fact that this will be some amount of work for FS and to appreciate that it could be a rough experience for months or even years, and that it might not be to the taste of everyone who wants a solo experience.

just another two throne gelt thrown into the pot from me.

Exactly that. And I add, the mod has bugs. And this is a big problem. Example, you cannot use a plasma gun on a bot or immediate crash (can’t remember if it crashes if you pick a PG).

And I add… if Fatshark doesn’t want to do it, they could be forced by the European Union rules that are currently under work, as I said it above.

”The biggest misconception [of people who play but don’t make video games] is that it’s easy to do stuff.” – Victor Magnuson, design director at Fatshark

While I agree with the sentiment of calling out armchair experts, the point still stands that they promised to do the work. Imagine hiring a roofing company to replace your roof tiles and they said “hey, we’ll add gutters to your roof while we’re at it.” and then just said “there was more damage than we expected, so we’ll have to put those gutters on hold.”

Understandable, right? I agree.

So they fix the damaged roof, replace the tiles, build you a chimney and patio awning you didn’t ask for, and continue to refuse to even acknowledge that they told you they’d give you gutters.

Still understandable? Or are you confused at why you have a chimney, patio awning, brand new roof, and still no gutters after 3 years of work? How could an original promise still “not be a priority” after they continued to add stuff you didn’t ask for. Sure, adding gutters around your chimney and awning is gonna be tougher, too bad they didn’t put the gutters in first and plan around them like they said they would.
