tl;dr - Malefic Momentum works with Bleeds (dagger, chain weapons blessing - treated as non-warp attack), Soulblaze (from passives, or weapon blessings treated as warp attack), and the electrocution special attack of the shock maul (treated as warp a non-warp attack), but does not trigger from the Charged Strike passive*.*
Malefic Momentum (passive)
+5% Damage to Warp Attacks for 8s after a non-Warp based Kill. Stacks 5 times.
+5% Damage to non-Warp Attacks for 8s after a Warp based Kill. Stacks 5 times.
Charged Strike (Blitz Modifier)
Your Heavy Melee Attacks electrocute enemies hit, damaging them.
Issue:
From testing in the meat grinder, kills triggered by Charged Strike trigger neither the “Warp” or “Non-warp” portion of this effect. To me, this thematically feels like a “warp” attack, despite the effect not causing any peril to build up. It feels like it should function in a similar manner to Soulbalze, which does trigger Malefic Momentum. Soulblaze can be triggered in a few ways and does not always increase peril, such as talents like Perilous Combustion, Wildfire, or the weapon blessing Blazing Spirit. One can also spend peril to apply stacks with the staff. When an enemy dies from this damage, it is classified as a warp attack kill, buffing non-warp damage.
Further, I compared how bleed stacks work with Malefic Momentum. If you allow the bleed effect to get the last hit, this does trigger the passive (treated as a non-warp kill, as expected). Similarly, the shock maul’s weapon special is also treated as a non-warp kill, as you’d expect.
I’d like to see the damage from Charged Strike treated as a warp attack. Right now, it seems to be classified differently (as neither warp or non-warp). It seems like adding electrokinetic damage on a weapon that has no shock function would require some sort of “warp” usage, right?
