Chainaxe has an issue where once it has increased power with slaughterer stacks it will no longer latch onto and grind on scab stalkers, scab shooters, dreg bruisers and dreg shooters. this vastly decreases your damage output vs lone instances of these enemies and leaves you with no good way to efficiently clear them (heavies won’t 1 shot them, using the weapon special for each one is a bit much).
it’d be nice if the chainaxe lights always latched onto and grind on the first enemy hit, and then continue on and hit subsequent enemies if it still had the cleave to do so.
I’m mixed on this suggestion. I agree with the identified problem but in horde situations you really do want the lights to stagger as many enemies as possible before locking on one, and before someone says just push attack → heavy on repeat I’m pretty sure lights are better DPS, and with good targeting and some pushing mixed in it’s still very possible to use mostly lights on Damn hordes.
I don’t really have a better suggestion, though better damage on cleave for the lights would be nice generally.
i really don’t think you should be doing lights with the expectation they’ll manage a horde tho lol, they hit like 3 groaners or 2 poxwalkers max with slaughterer IV stacked up.
are they better dps? maybe, but given you’ve got like 8 or so enemies in front of you during a horde i really don’t think this change would make a measurable difference in the horde managing capabilities of chainaxe lights
No I’m telling you I already do primarily use lights to handle hordes. It’s harder but manageable and clears faster. I’m objecting to your suggestion because it would take a harder but rewarding way to use the weapon and make it not really work anymore.
is this with pure lightspam or with pushattacks mixed in?
Push attacks mixed in naturally. It was definitely higher clear speed before the heavy attack buff, not confident it still is but anecdotally feels like it to me.
oh, well that explains it lol, slaughterer boosted chainaxe shove is meaty
don’t need to stagger much with lights when they’re all on the floor from the shove anyway.
