Haven’t seen this posted, so I wanted to express appreciation for the progression rework coming this fall. A common pain point with players has been loving the game but struggling to get friends into it. Part of why it’s tough to get into is the grind required to reach the point where you can experience the heroes at full power. Another pain point is being forced to play low-level matches that don’t demonstrate the intensity VT2 offers. Addressing these pain points is really great. Personally, I would advocate for increasing the XP gains even further, as it takes perhaps 150hrs just to level all 5 heroes, and people have a lot of games competing for their playtime.
I also appreciate the increased transparency of showing players the loot tables / drop rates on the chests, as there’s lots of confusion around those. Currently, players sometimes over-emphasize the importance of getting emperor’s vaults, to the extent that they’ll risk mission failure over books. Yet player data shows the veteran/red drop rate is not dramatically higher for each chest tier. Being able to see the drop rates should reduce the pressure to play all-or-nothing with full books on Legend.
I love that they are creating a Handbook that can teach players things its easy to miss. How many of us took an embarrassing number of hours to realize something like push-attacks existed, or that medpacks can clear two players’ wounds? Or ran into somebody who thought they needed to be holding the tome to get credit for it? Not everybody takes to youtube and reddit when they want to learn a new game, and some may get frustrated and leave. Great idea to add info right in the Keep.
New forest biome map, as well? I love that! The diversity of environments is one of the things that helps make VT2 so replayable. Something I miss when I play Darktide. Ah, trees Now these are just showing off!
