Private Lobbies

Bumping this. I also posted a similar topic in the General Discussion section of the forum.

People have been asking about this multiple times here, in the Steam forums, in Discord, in Reddit and now negative reviews are going up on the store page due to Fatshark’s refusal to address this.

Just give us an answer.

Made this account just so I could help boost this, completely agree with you guys here I’d much prefer to play the game solo with bots or with friends I don’t like having to play with randoms.

100% agreed. Darktide has such a great atmosphere and level design, that I’d like to have my time to explore the game. Also bots help to get deeper into the atmosphere as they are always being perceived as a part of the world. So yeah, please give us private lobbies with “bots only” option. You had pretty amazing bots AI in Vermin, so I think it’s not gonna be a problem. Just learn them how to analyze plague with service skull)

Sadly ive already passed the window of a refund but yeah, having to find 3 other people to play with who you know isnt a reliable or likely opportunity for a lot of people. i dont like having to play in pubs when im uncertain on how im doing, it adds an extra level of stress to playing that isnt needed when im trying to have fun.

I’ve heard beta hours don’t count towards 2h refund. Do you know something to the contrary? Still not clear myself whether or not this is the case.

I have no clue tbh, im just thinking of it being based off of the steam 2h policy.

Been posting this in a few threads already.

Fatshark is unlikely to comment on Valve’s policy. The wording of thei refund policy, concerning pre-purchased items, suggest that pre-purchased games always can be refunded before the game has been released. They state that the 2h/2weeks is applied only after the game has been released.

I wouldn’t rely on what you’ve heard. According to Steam’s support:

“Can I still refund my pre-order after the game comes out?
Preordered games that have been released are still eligible for a refund, as long as the refund request is submitted within two weeks of the game’s release, and the game has been played for less than two hours.”
Steam Support :: Pre-Order Refunds

Just to be on the safe side, I won’t be playing this game until there is official word on whether or not there will be private lobbies. I will refund it if it turns out there aren’t or if I haven’t heard anything by 11 December. I will not play with randoms.

I’ve seen someone say that since no one communicates in the game anyway, random players are just like bots, but that’s simply not the case. Bots won’t run off ahead while I take in the visuals or search the map, and if they’re like the ones in Vermintide, they’ll carry what I want them to carry. The friends I like to play with also like to take their time, so one or two randoms in our group would likely make the experience much worse.

The two weeks, yes. The two hours are never explicitly stated to start after release, just that the game can’t have been played for more than two hours.

As long as you refund the game before release, it shouldn’t matter, according to how it’s formulated. There shoulnd’t be any time played restrictions on refunds as long as the refund is done before the game has released.

The 2 hours aren’t explicitly stated, but the contrary is also not explicitly stated, which is a good indicator that the more generous interpretation will be used, to save Valve from any legal headaches. If you want to refund the game, I think it would be safer to do so before the release date though, just to be on the safe side.

I have to say I’m a bit concerned that Hedge replied to a single-post thread about recustomising your character within two hours of the topic being created, but this thread hasn’t received any attention so far. No “we’re looking into it”, no “it won’t happen”, nothing.

Most likely the people responsible for interacting with the community have things they can and cannot say. Private lobbies, parties, squads, etc seem to be one of those topics with how nonexistent the info on has been.

My friend was able to get a refund even with having a bit over 2 hours. I’m not exactly how Steam handles refunds whether it be automatic or handled by a real person but if you make sure to state it’s a beta and it’s still before the release date I’m sure you can still refund.

I really hope they communicate an answer to this highly demanded feature.

The current situation, where they don’t give any info regarding this feature, gives the impression that they don’t know yet how they or if they can implement it.

Unless that’s totally intentional and a design choice.
FS might be currently gauging the playerbase reaction to this.
And that would be very problematic.

They might want to go for a Destiny 2 model (the hub is similar too) with the social and matchmaking features.
It might help with player retention, microtransactions, population, and other factors but it will certainly offer a very different experience from what we could get in Vermintide 2.

Would love an official reply on this. If there’s no official reply before launch, I intend to fully refund this prepurchase. Hundreds of hours in VT1 and VT2 in private lobbies. This is a basic feature of any coop shooter in this style, was included in VT1 and VT2, and makes absolutely zero sense to not be included in the beta without any justification from FS

Just adding my signature to this petition. I spent more hours than I care to admit playing Vermintide 1 and 2 and at least 95% of that time was in private lobbies with friends/bots tackling all difficulties.
Giving us the option to instruct bots to pick up tomes and grims in V2 was a huge QoL improvement that showed Fatshark care about supporting players like us.

Please give us private lobbies with players/bots and the ability to give bots simple commands.

A significant portion of the player base enjoy this style of play and will invest much less time in this game (if any) if this option is omitted.

For those still unsure, I refunded and got it within a few hours. Pre-orders can be refunded before the release date, who knows if there is any hidden stipulations but this isn’t the first pre-order I’ve refunded. I was well over the two hours and pre-ordered it in I think June. I will buy it again if I hear about private lobbies, as will my friends to play with each other.

Just making sure: You played well over two hours since yesterday? Checking because the beta before this is basically treated as a separate game and wouldn’t count towards your total.

Have to agree with everyone else and keep this ball rolling, I haven’t gone over 2 hours on Steam and I’m going to refund if I don’t hear an answer in the next day or two. I’ve only had one or two games with randos that haven’t blazed on ahead of the party getting themselves downed fast enough you’d think they were trying to do it. I’d rather play with my two friends and a bot, or no bot at all than being forced to play with people that only care about getting through the mission as quick as humanly possibly.
