In a patch where roughly half the appeal and content is new cosmetics, you couldn’t commit to actually only making new cosmetics instead of dipping the same old ones in new paint? I mean I’m really trying to be on your side but this is like the 23rd pair of zealot pajama pants and the 17th pair of psyker jeggings in the game. Enough already.
Please for the love of God, could you try just a couple percentage points harder? Because this comes across quite starkly as apathy or laziness or maybe even both.
Tell me about it. Not only are there already countless colour and pattern variations of these already, but these monochromatic, plain versions are locked behind hours of grind, for whatever reason and they look about as generic as everything else.
I can only conclude a couple things from this. Either no one in QA looks over all the new stuff in the actual game to see if it looks/functions correctly, or they don’t give a sh*t.
There are lots of problems with Darktide, and lots of things they rightfully deserve to be called out for. I don’t think a minor cosmetic issue on one chest piece is a major concern.
I understand that lots of little issues like this pile up and make the game feel worse. But for me, stuff like that isn’t worth much more than submitting it as a bug report.
I get your point. Is this game breaking? No. But is it also indicative of their overall mindset and approach, which in turn affects everything else? Probably yes.
I can’t tell how much of it is laziness or manipulative attempts at driving people to the Commodores Vestures.
Give people too much nice looking free stuff and it might affect their profits. Got to make sure it all looks like the same rubbish reskinned, get you buying 15 bucks of SharkCoins.
If it really was just a minor cosmetic glitch, then sure. But I’m not sure an overall lack of quality assurance and attention to detail, which is a ubiquitous aspect throughout the game, is of negligible import.
I’ve noticed this too as I’ve unlocked more of them. So many are just kitbashes of previous stuff. It is kind of dismaying to see that they’re trying to cut as many corners as possible on their purported “Road to Redemption”. Again, it’s not a good look for something that already struggles to look good.
I’d love to know, if asked directly, would anyone speaking on behalf of Fatshark be able to guarantee that these cosmetics are being made in an ethical and fair work enviroment?
The cosmetics are all outsourced to a 3rd party sweat-shop studio in China that gets minimal QA or review for problems . We’ve had tons of problems with cosmetics that make it onto the live server, often on “premium” priced cosmetics too in many of the most egregious examples.
The best response is to not buy any with real money, don’t incentivize or reward the low quality product, and just accept the free ones will have issues.
I agree with everything you said except accepting that there are issues. I’m pretty sure not kicking up any sort of reasonable fuss over the issue will just incentivize them to keep on not giving a sh*t.
Tbf people jave been complaining about the Cash shop since launch, and the only thing that changed was adding an extra 2 pages to rotation. Unless you can convince whales to stop whaling I’m not sure much will change on that front.
