Poxhound Movement

So far in my 30ish hours of Darktide beta, nothing has really irritated me more than the poxhound’s absolute disregard for any sort of momentum. Sometimes it’s humorous, where I’ve seen two boys in a row hit a stair in a dive and immediately pop 100 feet into the air only to crash down and die, but other times I’ll try to track them and they’ll do 3 consecutive 180s while hopping over a railing only to slide backwards into you and pin you down. I understand that AI pathing can lead to quirks like this from time to time, but the speed of the poxhound and the fact that at higher difficulties you can sometimes see 3-5 in a horde really makes it annoying when they’re nearly impossible to track in cramped spaces. Anyone else feel like this?

It’s a baffling design change from how they handled the gutter runner in VT2. Countering it is entirely inconsistent and it moves like a cracked out olympic sprinter. Easily the worst special design in the game.

Meth jerky.

By far the worst enemy in the game. Just extremely frustrating and unfun.

I wouldn’t mind the horrifically buggy movement if it weren’t so DAMN TANKY

Seriously, you can sneeze in an assassins direction in VT2 and they’ll get staggered to the other half of the planet, meanwhile these dogs will continue ripping at an Ogryn’s throat (somehow, despite being half the size of the superhumanly strong and resilient Ogryn) while 3 people unload 8000 bullets into it like an absolute menace lol

I have 50 hours and i have no problems with the dogs, yes they are buggy but it’s fun as hell. and the sharpshooter can easily track it. Nothing is really a problem when you play as a team.

Protip:

Just frontal pushblock them when they lunge.

100% stagger on the dog, leaves them right at your feet for as many followup melee attacks as necessary, which when they’re not running or pouncing, seem to chain stagger them. The timing of the push block doesn’t even need to be good as far as I can tell. Due to how janky and out of synch the Pox Hound can be, it seems to almost work in your favor.

I know! Hard to believe. I was surprised too. Just try it. Pox Hounds only become a problem after that if you’re too busy to even look at them.
