Yeah, basically. In 40k rending was a luck based armor penetration. Power swords are always used while on and always have armor penetration. There are two good proposals right now in my view:
Battery
-Battery could be managed, in my view, as a slowly recharging resource (similar to overheat).
Always on
Either way just reduce the damage bonus to various targets and make the damage table totally flat. Whatever you hit with the thing takes the same damage. This would both make it a good and usable and not annoying weapon and also give chainswords a place to shine.
And they did it before. Kerillianās moonfire bow works like this in V2 (blue charge line)
The only thing is it means they should change it for power hammer aswell. But not sure devs will spend time on power weapon overhaul tbh.

They should, but thunder hammers and power mauls do modify base strength as well. So maybe they should be overhauled but its not nearly as glaring when you charge the thunder hammer and bonk with it for the big damage. If we were going to do that then itād be always on and swinging for like 1000+ damage. Balancing that sounds way harder. Power SWORDS on the other hand really should just be always on. It makes more sense from a lore AND gameplay perspective.
The power sword is garbage. I donāt even bother activating it in mobs, thereās no time and the moment I do, Iām getting hit. Now Iāve got to grind out another chainsword or another axe in the perk/blessing lotteryā¦at least theyāve got a useful special. Just limit it to 3 swings, but 1 is stupid.
