Player movement is far too clunky and slow for a melee focused game. It feels like you cannot react to anything because all movement feels too slow. The AI feel like they are far, far more faster than you are which creates an issue of always being swarmed by AI.
Reloading should not make you move quite as incredibly slow as it does. Some slow, sure, but not so slow that you can barely move.
Getting hit should not slow you down as much as it does. Especially as it pulls you out of sprinting.
The amount of AI/environment things that can push you is far too dramatic also. Exploding barrels should not throw you into the air and push you as far as it does. People just use this to troll you and it’s extremely disorientating. Being hit by a sniper should not push you back like it does, it doesn’t make sense for a sniper to do that. If you have a boss that does that, sure. If you have a armoured/shielded ogryn that’s meleeing you, sure. But a sniper that gives you no warning. That’s not good design.
The speed feels fine. But the amount of explosive barrels is absurd, especially with how easy they are to accidentally hit in melee and how they do damage and stun, I agree.
100%, I have had it several times where I started to chase down some gunners to engage them in melee so they would stop shooting at us. What ended up happening is that they turned around to run, and since they were faster than me I chased for a while as they turned around to shoot me.
Granted, I should have recognized the situation and either pulled out my gun, or stop chasing to find cover to recharge sprint. But it just feels clunky that all the characters are so slow compared to everything.
TBH it sucks that getting hit by ranged just knocks you out of sprinting, which means that if you time sliding wrong, you’re going to be eating a massive amount of ranged damage because once you’re hit, you’re a sitting duck for all ranged.
I haven’t gotten trolled by the exploding barrels, just accidently knocked around since there’s no way to know that someone has accidently hit one behind you other then a random callout.
There is a tell for a sniper tbh, but it’s a small laser that is very, very easy to miss in a hectic situation. Do wish that it was more noticeable just for readability.
I must say I don’t agree with most of this criticism. However, the stagger you get from ranged attacks is kind of insane right now and could use a tone-down (except for the Reaper gunner, which has a huge gun, so it makes sense).
