Venting is basically free right now. I don’t even notice the damage tick as it bounces off my regenerating toughness. This current iteration of venting damage was made for an old, unbuffed plasma gun and should be brought way up to give a meaningful tradeoff to active venting.
I disagree. The plasma gun has enough trade offs and is currently in a good place.
Damage is not what venting is about but time you are spending on it.
What is it with people asking to destroy every weapon and skill in this game?
People like do destroy everything then complain that everything is sh*t and leave. Chaos Wastes is a fine example.
Screw that, the plasma gun is the trade off.
The ammo economy ain’t great, its limited on how many shots you can put out in a short time, its extremely overkill on specials and on anything short of an Ogryn and you can still blow yourself sky high since unlike Psyker you have no secondary saving ability in an emergency.
Please stop trying to make everything deeply unpleasant to use for the sake of “balance” f sakes.

Don’t have a particularly strong opinion on this; the venting damage is miniscule, but the fact that it exists (compared to Peril quelling having no damage) is a bit strange - like @Eisenfaust said, the time is the real kicker rather than the damage.
Venting once allows you to fire 2 quick shots.
Venting twice takes about as long as it takes other weapons to reload a full mag.
Passive cooling is incredibly slow.
This is enough downside already.
The plasma gun is fine.
Plasma gun venting is fine. If anything, the vent dmg should be removed completely.

“Venting deals damage?”
I have genuinely not noticed that. It is probably a superfluous mechanic if it’s that inconsequential.
we can remove venting damage, it has no place in a game without thp. surely that’s why psyker doesn’t take damage on quelling, so they should commit to that.
“Wahhh! He made me look bad!”
“Wahhh! He isn’t playing the way I think he should!”
“Wahh! If I can’t have that toy he can’t!”
And so on.
Never underestimate the lengths those who combine stupidity, selfishness, and arrogance will go to destroy anyone who doesn’t serve as a direct boost to their ego.
My reload speed perks stack so much that straight-up reloading the Plasma Gun takes less time than venting it. Aww yeah.
What plasma needs is a moderate nerf to the left click and for the charged shot to be adjusted so that it’s worth using more often than never.
i dont agree, the plasma gun used to genuinely damage you when you vented and that sucked, it’s already a difficult beast to work with compared to the just-as-if-not-more-powerful alternatives, and being interrupted while you vent is enough of a hurdle. if it’s too powerful you can slow down the venting or the time it takes to ready it again, but for the love of god dont make it eternally a pain in the ass just to use the gun. health is a precious resource and eating away at it just to shoot makes it a dead option.

Weapons with low ready speed feel absolutely terrible to use.
I just want to take out my Helbore without flipping a switch every single time
I really like the helbores in a vacuum.
But i hate the eternal draw time as well as not being able to shoot through teammates.
You spend ~2seconds to swap, charge a shot and aim, just for the meaty arm of a big teammate to absorb your shot…
At least the plasma gun can shoot through teammates but i would still hate if it got a similarly slow draw speed.
Yeah, it makes the Helbore very frustrating to use in its current state. The Helbore has a worse sight, lower base damage for non-charged attacks and a slower fire rate compared to standard Lasguns. Oh, and of course, the gun safety tutorial for dummies every time we try to whip it out, which is still my #1 complaint. Bayonet is still on top, however, as it makes all of the drawbacks feel somewhat worth it.
