At the moment when my ammo is considered low by the game, my character will say “I’ll take that!” when I ping ammo.
However, often I’m in a situation where I realize a teammate needs ammo more than I do, especially when I rolled a weapon with tons of ammo and I want to ping the ammo for him/her. If I wanted my character to say “I’ll take that” I’d just take the ammo myself!
Pinging ammo or any other item, should make it glow through walls and let my teammates know what I’ve found by my character yelling out e.g. “Ammo here!”
I think it only says so when you ping an already pinged item.
The logic is that, when someone pings an item, you can express that you want to take it.
They should make the visual difference between pinged and non-pinged item more pronounced IMO (maybe add a dot above a pinged item), because sometimes I am just not sure that the item is glowing because it’s pinged or it’s just a normal item glow.
As Lexa says, it’s mostly on pinging a marked item that it says that. That said, the thing I want more than anything else is, simply, for the game to tell me how much ammo everyone has in an exact numerical value out of its actual maximum.
Then I can make real choices on my own as to who is most in need and balk on picking up ammo if someone has a lot less.
I’ve literally been in situations with new players where they refuse to pick up the medkit even though they’re the only one with a free slot, because they heard someone ping “I’ll take that”.
Ping system definitely needs work. Claiming item should not be the same command.
