Penance Ideas

I think any future penances should be much more favoured to encouraging team play so I thought we could suggest a bunch for FS to ignore :ok_hand:

Feel free to add some ideas!

  • restore health of a teamate using your own health syringe, X amount of times.

  • save teamate from a melee attack, (x amount of times etc… Let’s just assume this for all the listed penances)

  • save a teamate from a ranged attack

  • save a team mate from a mutant charge

  • save a teammate from a trapper

  • save a teamate from a burster

  • complete 50 auspex mini games

  • protect a teamate from getting any damage whilst completing an auspex minigame 50 times

  • scan 50 items with an auspex search

  • as a team, collect more than 1000 plasteel in a single match, 20 times

  • as a team collect more than 500 diamantine in a match, 20 times

  • all team members remain above 50% health for an entire match, 5 times.

  • successfully carry a canister to its destination (on the map with 3 central canisters event) without dropping it, 5 times.

  • have a teamate successfully carry a canister to its destination (on the map with 3 central canisters event) without dropping it, 5 times.

  • kill a monstrosity that each teamate has caused damage to, 5 times

That’s all I can think of atm. Please add more that you think could work :+1:

These are pretty much impossible to track.

Ew no

Easiest penance of all time.

Everything else seems fun!

I dig em! I’m really enjoying all the new penances, especially with the track and continual sense of progression, so yes sir more please!

I especially would like more of these team-oriented ones, preferably with the goal of teaching new mechanics to people (like tagging, stimming, stanky legging, etc.)

Those are effectively just “kill the enemy”.

“Save a teammate from a crusher overhead strike” would be good i guess.

We already have those.

If this came with being able to use emotes mid mission I would 100% be for it.

I agree: except for un netting someone. I don’t think that is a penance at the moment. And it should help teach people to un net team mates ASAP.

I guess if that’s what the guy meant, yes “untrapping” someone would be kinda useful for a penance.

“Free a teammate from a trapper net, before they take (corruption) damage.” would be good.
Or “Free a teammate from a Mutant grab.”

here are a few ideas that i had a while ago:

Not at all. Enemies will have an intended target. If you stop them from achieving their charged attack then it would count.

Why? Wouldn’t be difficult on higher difficulties. Just encourages people to find some. The amount could be reduced.

Yeah some will be easy but they’re just a way to encourage team to fight together. You’d be surprised how often I see people run off when a monstrosity appears :joy:

Oooo yes tagging ones would be good.

  • tag an elite or specialist before a teamate kills it, 50 times, would be a good one for example.

We kinda have this one already, but for a vet keystone and not team oriented.

Although even the users of this keystone usually only tag maybe 10 enemies in a match.
So it would make sense to add more tag related penances. Teach people to do the useful things.
Also, it might be a good idea to require a certain amount of tags within a single mission, so that players are actually required to tag more.

Tag x different enemy types during 1 mission, y times.
Tag enemies and kill them. X ememies during 1 mission. Do this y times. (kills from teammates count, but only your own tags count)
Tag a trapper that is running away, x times.
Tag a hound that is running away, x times.

All tag related penances should probably require the tagged target to die while tagged.
Otherwise, people would start spamming their tag key at everything, doing more harm than good,

Doesn’t this only apply to if you kill the target? I’ve finished it so I can’t test it anymore.

Trying to teach a new person how to play the game on higher difficulties (yes, somehow I got a new person to play in current day) and it’s shocking how little they use it.

When I run focus target I’m always putting stacks on a target, even if it’s only 1 or 2. I would feel like I’m wasting the keystone otherwise.

I think so. Thats why i said “not team oriented”.

If you run a scoreboard mod with the “enemies tagged” plugin…
Holy moly.
Most people on auric damnation tag around 0-5 enemies per mission.

Most users of the tag keystone are around 10-20 maybe. Often times, you do not even notice that someone has that keystone, because they do not tag anything. In that context, i am not surprised when some people think that the keystone is terrible.
When my buddy or i are using that keystone, we tag more than 100 enemies per mission. In our case, the keystone absolutely slaps.
Almost 100% uptime on the team wide dmg buff, and pretty good toughness + stamina restoration for everyone, every few seconds.
People really need to learn to use their keyboard buttons.

I’m sure you mentioned it in your penance mega post, but that’s so stupid especially considering it’s probably the most team oriented keystone in the game.

Some real big thinkers over there at FS.

earlier tonight I killed a Deamon host right before it could finish choaking out my teammate for the kill and saved his life. I feel like I deserve an achievement for that tbh

Yeah that’s a good one!

I disagree. There is a very specific reason there isn’t any Daemonhost penances, and that is because they are meant to be avoided and not engaged with. Having a penance for that would make randoms start triggering Daemonhosts in pubs to try and get it down.

Not only that, but killing a Daemonhost that’s choking a player out punishes players who are able to kill them super fast. So you have to trigger something you shouldn’t be triggering, and than you have to purposefully die so your team mates can hopefully get it?

I think it would be a fine achievement if it was just an achievement, and not linked to the Battlepass type progression system that DT has now.

I’d agree if it was saving yourself from a DH (which shouldn’t be a penance). but if you’re saving a teamate from a DH that they triggered then that seems like it could be a legitimate penance to me. Just my opinion though oc

Oh hey I made one of these too!

Oh cool! I hate that threads lock so soon from inactivity.

You put in the extra effort and named them :muscle:

yes
So then running away from the team will be more rewarding rather just being a looter.

Not sure I understand?

Why would running away from team be more rewarding?
