Don’t really have any cogent feedback on balance yet - still easing back into the gameplay on Malice. The penance system is a little grindy and gives credit to @CommanderJ 's borderline conspiracy theory about player retention requirements, but it at the very least gives me SOMETHING to work towards, and can be expanded upon.

This update changes nothing for me. It’s just a big “you like grind, right? Here’s more grind!” thing.

this has been bugged for a while. also the door kills a good 70% of the specials that appear since patch 13.

also no mission board overhaul really hurts when you want to try one of the SEVERAL maps you just altered or added new mission overseers on and they’re either not on the board or with the overseers we’ve seen before. On the difficulty we want to play (T5). How is this still a barrier. The mission board is garbage.

I was mainly looking forward to the moebian 6th cosmetics so i have to express they were pretty disappointing. all i really wanted was the 6th’s uniform but cleaned up and that’s far from what we got.

For starters they’re blue. Why are they blue? What possible reason is there for that, it looks bad and in mission nothing’s bright enough for that to tell the differance if you’re worried about friendly fire. I’m not sure why the eagle emblems are molded onto the armor either. They’re not on the scab plates and it’d be pretty obvious if they’d sanded them off. Some paint would have been fine for that. just paint the imperial eagle on them.

The veteran is the one i was most hoping to look good and it’s the worst offender by a long shot. The helmet’s all wrong, it’s got a chin strap and a sighting laser for some reason and the visor line is off. There’s not even a facemask, which has been pretty defining of the moebians. The pants are all wrong, the cut of the fatigues isn’t the same, the boots are different, it’s the wrong color all over and the kneepads are wildly different- and why are there random thigh bands? We know what the leg armor the moebian 6th uses, we can see it in the training area. And the chest is worse still, the shoulder plates are hanging off the arms! just dangling there! They’re mounted wrong and they’ve got that weird extention the scabs added to just their melee grunts. the arm armor is all wrong, and it seems to be poached from the cadian suits, the moebian armor doesn’t have elbow pads and the shape of the forearm and hand plates are totally wrong. Even the gloves are wrong, the moebian 6th has pretty long gloves. and all the pouches are different! it’s stupidly obvious how wrong they are, and why is there a pistol holster on the chest holding a random pistol shaped metal brick? That’s not a handle, it’s really obvious. Even if it was it’s placed all wrong, how the hell are you going to draw from the holster when it’s that high? Why bother with stuff on the chest at all if you’re not gonna keep it from looking dumb? Just take it off. You don’t need to have bouncing pouches on the chest of every armor. Even the fatigue coat is obviously the wrong cut. come on, I’m willing to overlook not getting the mask but this is a mess

The psyker’s feels more like cosplay, with the design just the psyker coat with a chest plate over it but it’s probably the least offensive because…well there’s no reason to care. The only real offense is “why does the psyker have flak” and it’s essentially for looks. the collar with it’s weird plate bolted over the eyes is a bit odd, but “a bit odd” covers a lot of psyker headgear anyways. i’d probably like the collar part without the forehead-plugs and eye-plate. at least the jacket is basically “psyker regulation” enough it’s not worth complaints about. the flak armor with the psyker tubing molded in looks weird. there probably was another option, but i guess you’re going for looks here.

I don’t know WHAT to make of the ogryn set. It’s a cut back version of the carapice armor, for some reason. With a skull cap and the breastplate modeled after the infantry grunt’s breastplate, for some reason. None of it makes any sense but i guess they wanted it to look like a big version of the veteran’s uniform, for some reason? It doesn’t really look good and it kinda highlights how bad the vet’s uniform looks. the pants are the most annoying part, because they’re the carapiece armor boots and then pants cut something like the moebian infantry wear, but on the damn ogryn. There’s other boots for that! you can see the other boots in the training area, why did you poach the ones off the carapice armor? And why is there a strap full of pouches on the back? what possible reason would you slap those on under where the backpack goes? ust take the strap off if you’re going to have them all covered by the pack!

The zealot’s looks like junk but all the zealot stuff looks like junk so that’s probably just what they do to anything you give 'em. The shoulder plates are from some other armor, and the chestplate sits weirdly, except that’s intentional because the stupid zealots stripped off the back plate and the straps are holding the chestplate in the wrong position. The fatigue shirt looks close the the one the shotgunners have but the stitching and fasteners are different, and the pouches are all wrong, but that’s also probably just the zealots being zealots again. It’s got the same issues as the vet does with the helmet though the visor line is still off and there’s that chinstrap it should have again! and why is there an eyepiece strapped on it? You can’t use it up there. it’s because the inquisition seal’s on it and zealots are dumb? maybe, i guess… It looks bad but i think most zealot outfits look bad. I hate zealot players

In conclusion, please take these away from that chinese studio you have doing cosmetics and have the in-house design team that worked on the initial stuff go back over the concept art and figure out how to fix them. And hold a meeting about looking into if the quality of those chinese guy’s work is up to the accuracy of detail you expect out of them.
But first get rid of all that sky blue. Looks terrible. And we’ve already got blue armor.
EDIT: also a bunch of the new cosmetics still have their placeholder text on, make sure someone fixes that.

The changes made to “purge the heretic” is just disrespectful to the most devoted players of the game. People that actually managed to get the frame the right way (myself included) now have nothing to show for it. It’s extremely irritating that they would tear down the hardest frame to acquire like this. There SHOULD be penances in the game for the top 5% of the player base. 1,000,000 kills was not impossible. Please restore the old penance Fatshark.

My brother in the emperor’s light nothing about farming kills says anything about your skill. It’s a question of ‘when’ not ‘if’ someone is able to achieve that. Talking about ‘top 5%’ in that regard is laughable.

Don’t get me wrong, the change is shitty, but so is your reasoning against it. I also don’t see the 500 special condition frame people whining, which in itself was much more tedious, given the previous lack of certain mission types.

We haven’t gotten a new gun since December 2022 that isn’t a BS reskin of another gun with either a special alt fire or a stupid as all getout “Mark” variation. Mark variation…so this is why you marketed the game with 70 unique weapons at launch? Shame that at the moment, Darktide has 84 weapons, and 41 of them are actually unique, including all guns, staffs, melee weapons, and otherwise. Less than half of Darktide’s weapons are actually unique. You have seven f*cking axes that are all exactly the same. You have something like eight autoguns. Four shotguns…

Not one Volley gun.
Not one Plasma Pistol. Really, a 40k FPS game without a PLASMA PISTOL, probably the most famous weapon in the entire franchise!? COMING UP ON TWO YEARS SINCE RELEASE!?
Not one Melta gun.
Not one grenade launcher.
Not one Longlas.

You’ve added none of those, but you added…oh. Almost double the number of original ranged weapons and like six different melee weapons that have different Mouse3 abilities. Great. Or different swings. Awesome. Great.

You’ve only done one boss mission, of which it was meaningless, because first off, who the hell are the Karnak twins and why should anyone give a damn about killing them, and then you didn’t add another new mission for…have you added a new mission since then? I genuinely don’t know, but I doubt it.

It took you two years to add ONE new enemy.

Guys, just f*cking shut the servers off. Darktide is dead. Its not coming back. Barely anyone even wants to spend money in your overpriced as sin RMT shop, and you’re still sitting on that Tempestus Scion outfit everyone on Reddit was so desperate to get, but…what’s the point of Scion armor if you can’t use a Ryza Hellgun like the ones they are canonically stated to have?

I’m going back to Helldivers, I knew I’d be disappointed by this gigantic list of nerfs to my favorite playstyles, Fatshark is dead to me. Darktide was my first Fatshark game, its absolutely my last.

Veteran getting a buff when the talents that they have buffed make this class able to one shoot everything with a revolver? silly.
Marksman change… well always hated the keystones of veteran that I don’t use. So won’t change my feeling about it.

Free cosmetics might be terrible, but since they are free, it would be a sin to complain. HOWEVER, why isn’t there an update where all paid cosmetics are displayed? Many people want to buy items that are no longer available, what’s the problem with adding this? You don’t need profit. Oh, and also, if there really are no ideas, in addition to adding previously available premium cosmetics in a new color scheme, look for videos/photos of cosplayers, it’s so simple.

Because people would realize that fatshark is selling nothing but cheap recolors and quick recombinations of existing assets for a premium. Especially compared to the initial bundles on release, which were both cheaper and had more items.

Since most 40k paypiggies have the memory of a drunk goldfish and the restraint of a fat kid in a candy store only showing them 3 cosmetics a week massively increases the chance of them paying good money on cheap recolors.

I hate to remind you, but you actually bought the game!

The “macro-transactions” are optional, additional payments. You still paid for the game and its contents.

Even “flc” in other games is paid for with the sales made to other customers in the first place. They aren’t gifts to us, they are there to incentivise game sales. Worse still, the grindy nature of things like progression paths is there to keep players in the “mall” as it were.

Based. However, people who are wating for some very specific cosmetics and know it is there, but just missed the rotation, they probably will just sit and wait (or not?), so Fatshark will get their money much later not right here and right now.

If reddit is anything to go by, the rate of cosmetic spending is pretty high. I’d also reckon that the current rate of spending is what gives Fatshark the confidence to release fkall for months and to believe that releasing a few achievements challenges is enough to keep people going.

The only time FS actually reacts to community sentiment in a timely manner is when the bottom line is endangered. Since cash (assumingly) seems to be rolling in just fine, they keep to their usual snail pace and stubbornly upheld ‘design vision’, ignoring player feedback.

Yup - we get this only because player count was dropping below 3k after the twins update. The year before that, we only got their backhanded apology because player count was dropping to sub-1k.

The only time Fatshark communicates or tries to build hype is when the playerbase drops to levels that don’t sustain cosmetics profit.

Soooooo… Ammo Aura is getting tweaked to round up and always give a static amount of ammo back whenever it procs, right?
