I’ve yet to actually fail a dogs Expedition, but it’s definitely much harder than anything else, and leads to a miserable experience. You can’t really go solo to do multiple Sites at the same time, take too much time dealing with them so you’re moving at a snail’s pace, resulting in much lower rewards overall.
Are you playing on auric? Because if so I’m jealous of your teammates. I’ve been last man standing, and often the only person seemingly doing the objectives, on almost 2 entire days worth of playing.
Last night I pinged the first objective and headed there. The entire team was just off fighting enemies in no man’s land! I did the objective all by myself which gave me a canister … so I started pinging the next objective and took the canister there. After I initiated the timers on the crates, the entire team had died! Then they started typing “come rez" etc and one of them said “wow this guy sucks" as they all sit there waiting for rescue after I did almost 2 objectives by myself. But then I get flooded with enemies and the hounds appear and it’s impossible. That was a fairly normal experience for the last couple days.
I did finally finish 1 mission last night though, and only just, which was the final one needed to open that middle map node, so I thought I could be free of hounds forever…but then I soon unlocked the final map node which I discovered is 5 zones long AND hounds AND tornado all in the same mission ![]()
I would not be so hasty about calling IJ stealth goated. I myself was playing on the other side of this stealth zealot coin and got the most people in my block list in the shortest period of time - something like 5 zealots. Why? Because unlike you describe here:
The only thing they did was trigger the entirety of the map on the rest of the team. So I was often in situations where I couldn’t move to any objective because of the constant hordes of enemies coming in my direction, yet the tech remnants count just kept growing and growing.
It’s very nice that the zealot guy did all the objectives, but I had to play a shooting range game where I’m the dummy target for like 40 minutes. Or better yet, when there are like 3 people with stealth and I am the only one without it( which is very cool) that means I’m going to play a semi-solo Auric mission while my teammates speedrun hacking minigames. Yet it always ends up being a bad idea.
Especially when that fateful moment happens and the guy on zealot is downed - incredible, now he has like 3k worth of tech remnants and is somewhere on the other edge of the map. Or he activates the gate sooner than intended because he doesn’t need to fight enemies to get anywhere with his lightning-fast knife.
It just feels really bad to play with someone like that on the team when they try to be as unsocial as possible.
The best games I got from this gamemode were always when we moved together as one group. I really don’t appreciate when people try to solo speedrun everything - it takes the enjoyment out of my experience pretty fast.
I’ve had good experiences playing standard fotf blazing piety zealot
I play almost exclusively the tornado + dogs + 5 zones map, and I find that dogs aren’t that big of a problem when you stay together, since you can shoot them off each other pretty quickly. If you get pounced - just scream “dog” and someone nearby will get it off you.
Also, from my personal experience( mostly playing Arbites or Veteran on expeditions) using dog or Vet with frags + shout + Mk III Bolter or non-Helbore lasguns can deal with dogs pretty fast, so try that if you specifically hate them.
However, it does get frustrating when you deal with like 3 dog packs in a row - not that enjoyable, not at all.
I mean, same I can have fun with FOTF Zealot so long as it’s Scabs instead of dregs so I can actually fight enemies in melee while also doing objectives. Can’t do that with dregs tho. FOTF Zealot’s like the only Zealot ability I use.
Yeah same it’s just so much more fun than the others
Yeah, a lot of people don’t use stealth very responsibly at least in my experience, aggroing everything on the team & just fk’ing off basically. Even worse is the speedrunners, although that’s incredibly rare from that point of view. Whenever I’m stealthing it, I’m always with the team using it to pick up downed mates or K.O.'ing bosses for the extra damage. I only really use it for good in a non-selfish kind of way if that makes any sense. If I am doing the puzzles in expeditions in stealth, I’m at least still with the team so I don’t get hit while I solve them. I use it more in a strategic sense rather than going off to another location alone that is. Which is clearly frustrating, I’ve encountered this a few times myself.
Something I like with infiltrate is the supression on exiting stealth, you can turn yourself into a stun grenade and help allies.
Only Damnation. But yeah that last grid point is still brutal.
But how’s your sense of pride and accomplishment?
Since it’s been a minute since I’ve played (Dec 2023), are you allowed to Sprint while Stealthed? If so, would removing the ability to sprint while stealthed be a good change to stop this type of behavior? Or would it be too detrimental to stealth overall?
I’ve had like 6 times as many games be a waste from scums running off and being game-ruining scums that can solo all content. Just like they do in any game mode. And they don’t even bother grabbing anything. Its definitely a player thing and not a potential to do good thing.
oh gonna upload some treats soon ![]()
wildest assortment of wnkers I had since release, the mode sure brings out the “special ones” ![]()
“shitty team why don’t you watch out for me”
“it’s been like that since vt2, you have to look out for the single player”
one dude on the other side of the map croaking when 3 of us secure the sanctuary door successfully ![]()
“So, why didn’t you look out for the three other single players?” ![]()
he wrote that with such conviction like the iraqi propaganda guy back in the day ![]()
Everyone is another’s single player. ![]()
Yeah, you can sprint in Stealth still. Hmm… That’s interesting… If you mean speed runners specifically, it’s extraordinarily rare to see them in normal games. It’s like once in a blue moon kind of deal. So, it would be probably detrimental to the ability for mobility/killing bosses & resing reasons, etc, I would imagine. In expeditions, however, I don’t see that much either as I’ve only encountered it once, maybe it is a common occurrence? I’m not too sure as I don’t really play the game mode. I think that people that use the ability just lack a lot of self-awareness with it is all just in a generalized sense. But since it has a bad reputation most people I’ve seen just leave the match, lol. Which is actually understandable somewhat. Even when I use it people leave too, which I don’t take it heart. Just depends on the player. I have a buddy that uses Stealth in Havoc’s, but his only main purpose is for K.O.'ing bosses with Thammer, so we can move on & focus on other threats. Some people wanted Stealth to be gone & replaced entirely with some other ability. Which honestly… To me, either way it doesn’t matter as Stealth annoyances aren’t really a massive issue at least anymore in my eyes. I just don’t see it as often & I play a sht ton of games. But I’m open to changes if they make any sense, I suppose. At one point I complained about speedrunners plaguing the game, but this was a year or two ago. I feel like it’s a bit more settled down. Most games I have played are pretty standard without those types of shenanigans.
definitely. it’s the zealot archetype for me, zealous madman charging headlong at anything the emperor himself has not blessed. sure the other roles have their uses, but chorus feels rather passive, and stealth like dumping aggro on teammates.
as i just said here,
forget about moving as a team with most pubs. that’s a thing for premades, or the rare cases when you find a group of like-minded players.
