This wasn’t explicitly stated in the patch notes and wasn’t an issue before the update, so I assumes it’s a bug.
Activating loyal protector ability on ogryn just before performing either a partially or fully charged heavy attack, will cancel the heavy attack and instead do a light attack.
I thought it was just a shield bug but I was able to reproduce this bug with the other ogryn melees in the psykhanium.
This interferes with the heavy spam toughness regeneration loop as I need to wait to use my heavy attack after using my ability to stun enemies (which feels clunky and slow, especially when you are in the thick of the fighting) or my heavy attack gets completely cancelled and I have to waste time charging another heavy attack, both situations opening me up to taking more damage than necessary.
Steps to Reproduce (Required):
- play ogryn with loyal protector ability
- enter psykhanium
- charge heavy attack (either partially or fully)
- activate ability then immediately release heavy attack (both must be performed almost simultaneously, but ability before attack)
- The timing in the psykhanium seems to be more strict than when in game. In the psykhanium, it needs to be nearly simultaneous, but when in-game the window seems to be larger.
- observe that the heavy attack is replaced by a light attack
